I would go for the LG due to the IPS panel.

That's the one I have been swayed towards most, and at £419 with a 6 year warranty is decent.

I think the warranty would have to be comparable but might be worth a try.

Ah yeah, forgot about that.

I guess for the extra £20 it's worth 5 years extra warranty.
I have just got that Samsung one last week after ages of contemplating. Very neat TV and very happy

John Lewis might price match Argos, only got to ask them!

sorry pal. Happy to answer any questions about it tho.
Would not go with samsung ever again too many times the damned things died & developed faults, no decent deals on a philips for him?

There was that one, but didn't know if Phillips were any good.
if you archival search hukd for Philips tv deals....you'll see plenty of folk buying them & giving heat.
After multiple failures of Samsung tv's & monitors we won't have them anymore.
Went back to phillips because I used to have connections with the company since they were "Philips pye" after a long absence last year for a 50 inch gaming tv for the dining room on a vogels pull out mount, it's had a lot of use to date.

If your dad's hearing is not up to snuff, (age / environmental) then book up a speaker system as the shallow nature of modern tv does not facilitate sound properly (pistonics)

Ok thanks, I've decided to go for the Phillip's one after reading reviews and about yours aswell.

Is the Phillip's one I posted a good deal?

That's sneaky as the USA version (UM7300) has a standard RGB layout.
