New UK Piracy Blocking Injunction is a Pretty Scary Beast (Kodi)

    torrentfreak.com/new…14/

Some popular Kodi addons and android apps (I wont mention any names) are now going to need a VPN from Saturday (18th March)

I wouldn't at all be surprised if this tech is rolled out to other events like PPV and other sites hosting TV/Films in the future.

    # 15/03/17 NOWTV update:
Looks like NowTV is also getting an update to prevent Plex side load for IPTV:

The UK government really are the worst when it comes to freedom and privacy. They erode our privacy to stop the "terrorists" and now are allowing private interests control the Internet.

The totalitarian tories who want to read all our emails, phone calls and tell us which websites we are allowed to visit.

I do wish people would accept what they are doing is wrong. Its a company, making tv costs money, Sky dont have particularly large profits or profit margins.

Its stealing there is no moral excuse

The thing is though, Kodi (for simplicity) provides a service that does not currently exist.

For fans of most PL teams it is very difficult to get home match tickets let alone away ones but there is no alternative to then be able to watch those games live.

Having all PL games available for live streaming really wouldn't effect the live attendances much at all and the technology and demand exists for it so why not?

In fact teams/PL could probably make even more money than they do now if fans could also buy streaming season tickets for their clubs home and away games or even sell the games on a game-by-game basis. There would still be the demand for Sky etc as people would still want to watch other games at times but by having the two platforms, they could make even more than what they do now.

Taking Netflix as an example, they've looked at what people were streaming illegally and then offered it in a legal and affordable platform that is desired and made a killing.

If the PL/Sky et al tried to do the same instead of offering dated platforms and extorting ridiculous amounts they could make even more, especially considering they wouldn't also have to spend so much on anti-piracy measures.

Calling bullcrap on that; claiming half the users are thieves without the slightest bit of evidence is just smoke and mirrors to hide the fact the general public are being overcharged.

And, where do you get the evidence to prove half of all motorists and rail travelers are thieves - is it from the same peeps who claim half the disabled are thieves?

Your claims are absolutely nothing short of unfounded wicked lies.

Meh, it will just drive the 'criminals' deeper online.

Piracy will always be around and one or two steps ahead while there are monopolies trying to extort ridiculous amounts of money for services.

You think this would be any different under Labour? Blame the greedy lobbying of the media companies, who refuse to acknowledge the issue lies in supplying the right content for the right price.

Next on the agenda.....read your emails!

Not saying it would or wouldn't the fact is it was tories who have brought in all these new powers.

The truth is TV is really poor. I don't have sky it's rotten mostly old repeats and adverts. We should be encouraging more people to stop watching TV.

Premier League football is overpriced rubbish. I liked it when football was actually entertaining.

I was being sarcastic. Its not up to you what something is worth. Game of thrones costs millions per episode to make streaming it is no different to stealing milk. its just easier to get away with it.

I dont really care what people do is just annoying when people boast and act like theyre doing the moral thing.

That won't help. Your traffic will still be visible by your ISP so will be blockable.

You'll have to VPN to avoid getting angry letters or just simply cut off.

All of this is fine yet Microsoft allow apps on the Xbox one store that allow you to stream illegal content (movies/TV)

If the government want to listen to my phone calls and read my emails, they honestly can. I have nothing to hide and to be honest, I feel sorry for the poor sod who has to do it because they'd find nothing interesting at all. X)
