Does anybody know of any reasonably priced hotels in NewYork that are:

a) Very Clean and comfortable
b) within walking distance to times square central park
c) as cheap as possible

I took my partner last year for a 21st and stayed in a lovely hotel but paid approx $250 a night. We love New York and want to go back again and again but dont really want to pay more then around £70per night with taxes included - I know this is a big ask.

If anyone has any recommendations and pics to back it up I'd be greatful.

I have put in hours of searching myself but everywhere within the budget is too far away from where I want to be, so, I'm resorting to word of mouth and hopfully you guys can help.

I stayed at Best Western President Hotel last time I was there.
Think its on 48th street so minutes walk to Times Square.
Sure I paid around $110 per night.
Room small but tidy and location wise it was fantastic!

We stayed in the Salisbury really close to central park massive rooms we had one with a king bedroom, double pull out sofa sitting room and 2 huge lcd's, small kitchenette. Not the most modern but great location and size and was really cheap beginning of jan last year. Hope this helps

I was there a couple of weeks ago....stayed in 'candlewood suites' very clean, although they only clean the rooms once weekly, guess it depends how much of a messy person you are but the general clenliness everywhere was perfect......about 5 blocks IIRC from times square....worked out as about £800 for the week

the suites have cooking facilities so means you can buy snacks to cook and save money on small meals

This weeks Travelzoo newsletter has a New York hotel (Candelwood Suites) in it for £71 a night, although I've never stayed at it before.

Heres a few reviews on Tripadvisor:

Looks very close to Times Square. You should sign up to the travelzoo newsletter as they regularly have deals for New York hotels. We got a free upgrade staying at the Millenium Broadway and paying just under £100 a night for a 5 night trip.

Lol didn't read the last post when I posted this. Sounds like you might be onto a winner if you can get it.

Try The Warwick - I stayed there a couple of years ago and it was really cheap and really nice rooms. About 10 mins walk from Times Square and easy walk of most places, Plus, 10 mins walk from the main Grey Line tour bus company where you can catch the tours,

Have fun!

I would recommend you read up at ] first to learn about the bidding zones for Priceline and also the amenities that give away the likely hotel on hotwire. It is a bit risky

My wife and managed to get the Morgans on Madison Aveneue last April for £387 for 4 nights inclusive of taxes and fees - a little bit more than your £70 budget a night but it was a really good hotel. Just an example of what you can get going through priceline and naming your own price.
