    Newcastle Upon Tyne hotels?

Trying to arrange a stag do thats in 3 weeks and trying to find just a cheap hotel thats close to nightlife etc in newcastle. In the end its just a bed we want to sleep on so not worried about food etc. I noticed most places are minimum 2 nights as i was planning just going for the sat though but if it does have to be two nights then so be it. Anyone been before and got and hints on cheap place to stay and best place for clubbing gives a reply, Cheers.

EDIT - Bigg Market is traditionally the place to be in Newcastle although i hear these days the waterfront is pretty happening too

hi there, been to newcastle 4 times now on staggers, stayed at a premier lodge, and a b&b, but the best place we stayed at wat the albatross hostel - it was excellent, 2 minute walk from the train station, yates opposite the front door, and all the bars and club right around the corner, so no taxis or anything!
anyway the hostel was very clean, and has a den downstairs where you can drink your own drink, and also a kitchen where you get free tea, coffee and toast (we never sampled that!)
    you can get 2, 4, 6, 8 & 10 bed doems if i mind correctly - we had an 8 & 6
if you need anymore info just give me a shout

cheers but ive checked there for my date and it the only ones available for then is quite far out from where i want

Jesmond is far better now than the bigg market, also the Bars round the central station.
You could look at stopping in Jesmond although i'd imagine that pricey. You could also look at Whitley bay which has it's own nightlife and isn't too bad. Your then just a 20 min metro ride from the town centre a taxi from W Bay to town is about £15. Blueline are the cheapest taxi firm in the area.

I'd echo the shout for a hostel if its a simple bed you need and nothing more.

Hotels can be quite expensive in Newcastle unfortunately.

Try the Swallow Hotel next to Jesmond (NOT West Jesmond where the nightlife is) metro.
