Don't know how true it is but I heard that some staff turned up for work at their local Next store on Christmas Eve to be told their jobs were GONE and an announcement would be made after Christmas that the group would be going into adminstration, so if this is true.... people you recieved vouchers might like to cash them in pretty quick..... on the other hand if you feel that your Next voucher is safe in your bag.... leave them there until you are ready to spend it.

This isnt true.

What!? NEXT can't be next.

lol - very much not true.

sorry-utter nonsense! my wife works for em.

Sorry but it is partly true

I work for Next in Ayr and we were all told to phone in to the branch on Friday as the manager was not sure if we are going to be open or not. They are looking to close a number of branches UK wide and a statement will be made to the stock exchange shortly to advise what is happening. Our sales were well down on last year, so it was not a total shock. I would doudt the hole group would go down, but in this current climate you never know.

blame primani . .

Shocking!!

Highly unlikely to close stores this time of year. Will clear out the stock, and then clear out the stores ... if this is true.

Next does seem like a chain that does have the flexibility to reduce their stores. Alot of towns have 2 stores, 1 in the town and 1 out of town. Others have a Next and a Next Discount Store.

they might close a dozen or two stores

but not the entire company

Banned

Next is not the next woolies surely......

it cant be true the amount i spend in there lol

getting worried hope its not true

And I heard this from someone who is a manager on a South Coast branch, I would say a stock exchange announcement will come in January, they will get their sale over and done with and then a week or so later everything will be redued even further. Another credit crunch victim.... more to come I think :whistling:

oh no

i buy all my kids clothes from there

Sloth/Mod

I have 3 of them within a 3 mile radius. Don't see why they need so many of them.

Can't hurt to trim them down a bit.

They have just built a huge one here - opened 6 months ago

I'd rather not wear clothes from Primark.......

I'd just feel cheap.

fireheaven;3866735

And what about the people who lose their jobs if this happens?

Rather tough the retail sector is crashing all around us..who would work in a clothes shop this day and age? I was part of the big big redundancy job loss by BT in 1994 they lost 167,500 jobs in the whole of the uk:gift:

Tbh I don't think anyones jobs are safe in the present climate - unless you work for the job centre that is

I can't work out if you are just saying that because you have nothing better to say and don't really work there OR you really do work there but show no interest in your company, your goods or your colleagues which a lot of shops seem to have working for them nowadays.

Adams applied to the administrators' court on Christmas Eve, but has yet … Adams applied to the administrators' court on Christmas Eve, but has yet to be officially placed in administration.

Maybe you would also like to tell the BBC that they are talking Utter Balls as well.... :whistling:

ahhhh yeah lets keep them poor kids in good well paid superb conditioned jobs!!

We have 2 and live in a pretty small place. The one out of town is the new one but never busy - itseems so silly to have so many so I can understand them cutting down on all of the extra stores.

Up to 300 jobs are under threat after Scottish-based fashion retailer USC was put into administration. :whistling:

Family photo business Olan Mills, which traded mostly out of Mothercare stores, has shut all its 34 sites across the UK.
The group has announced that it ceased trading on Boxing Day and is poised to call in administrators.
Olan Mills said it was "endeavouring to fulfil all outstanding orders" for photography already taken, but admitted that those that had pre-paid for vouchers or gift boxes would have to queue up in the list of creditors for any refunds.
Its collapse will hit many families that bought photographic studio sessions as Christmas presents and it is thought that hundreds of jobs have also been put at risk.
The group, which is based in Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire, said it hoped to post out photography direct to customers during January.
Details for customers with outstanding orders were posted on the ]Olan Mills website.
Those that pre-paid by credit card will be able to claim refunds from their credit card company, but customers who paid by cash, debit card or cheque will have to claim as unsecured creditors.
Olan Mills Photography specialised in baby and family portraits, with more than half its 34 UK studios based within the Mothercare chain, but it also operated stand-alone studios at sites including Coventry, Derby, Peterborough, Nottingham.
