Hey folks, i know there is lots of freebies floating around at the moment for the NHS, carers, emergency, and keyworkers so i thought i'd collate all in one thread.

If i've missed any, or new offers appear or apply to a wider range of workers, please let me know and i'll be happy to review.

Some are new offers, some more on-going but in times of need for many and the hard work every service does, hopefully it'll help.

Some are for certain professions.

*please note, i'll try to update as much as possible but please double check before making your way to said location or redeeming said offer.

Aldi

Aldi has also limited the number of items people can buy - From Monday to Saturday, the German supermarket chain will be open between 8am and 8pm. Sunday opening hours remain the same - 10am to 4pm (or 6pm in Scotland).

Update 29/03

Aldi begins its first day today of its priority hours for NHS workers and all emergency service workers including those working for the police and fire service.

These workers are able to visit their local Aldi stores from 9.30am - 10am. Eligible customers will be able to take priority at checkouts when they open at 10am.

This is as well as Aldi's promise to ban queuing for these workers on the front line of the coronavirus pandemic. Aldi confirmed yesterday (Saturday, March 28) that NHS staff and emergency service workers would no longer need to queue to get into its stores.

Asda

From each individual store's opening time until 9am will be dedicated to elderly shoppers and NHS staff.

Asda has revealed it is closing its 24 hour stores between 12am and 6am on a temporary basis.

Co-op

restricting purchases to two per customer on some products, including hand sanitiser, soap, tinned goods, pasta, rice, long-life milk, sugar, baby food and nappies.

Costco

Costco warehouses are opening one hour early (prior to the trade opening time) for employees of the NHS & emergency services

Lidl

Aside from introducing emergency rationing measures, limiting the number of items people can buy in stores and online.

The supermarket has introduced an NHS hour at all of their stores every day, Monday to Saturday from 7am to 8am.

Morrisons

The supermarket has introduced an NHS hour at all of their stores every day, Monday to Saturday from 7am to 8am.

Nisa

Although opening times haven’t changed, different Nisa stores are offering help to the elderly and vulnerable, by offering extended services to customers, including free deliveries.

Sainsbury's

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, all Sainsbury's supermarkets will dedicate 8am - 9am to serving elderly, disabled and vulnerable customers, as well as NHS and Social Care workers. The latter will just need to show us their pass or ID when they visit.

You will have seen that we put restrictions in place this week to ensure that more products are on shelf for longer. From Monday 23rd March, we are consolidating our opening hours and all our supermarkets will be open from 8am to 8pm, Monday-Saturday, including those with an Argos store. Sunday opening, Sainsbury’s Local and petrol station opening times will stay the same.”

Tesco

Tesco have announced that: "From this Sunday (March 22), and every following Sunday, all Tesco stores (except Express stores) will prioritise a browsing hour before checkouts open for NHS workers."

A number of stores are now operating at reduced hours. Some Tesco Extra stores and Metro stores have reduced their hours to between 6am and 10pm.

As you know, we’re currently experiencing a very high demand for our delivery and Click+Collect slots. We’re doing everything we can to increase the number of customers we can safely deliver to.That’s why we’ll be making some changes:• From today, we’ll be capping the number of items you can add to your online basket to 80. This means that if you make a change to an existing tesco.com order* or place a new order, you’ll only be able to order a maximum of 80 items. To help give everyone access to the essentials, every product will still be limited to a maximum of 3 per customer**.• To help keep everyone safe, you’ll start to see all of your orders arriving bagged. This will also limit the amount of time customers and drivers need to spend on the doorstep. We’re at full capacity for the next few weeks and we ask those who are able to safely come to stores to do so, instead of shopping online. This will help us to free up more slots for the more vulnerable. If you have any other questions about shopping online, please visit our FAQ page.

Waitrose

Priority will be given for the first hour of each day to the elderly, vulnerable and their carers. Special deliveries for vulnerable customers are also in the works.

Former Manchester United and England defender Gary Neville is to open his hotels free of charge to health workers to help with the coronavirus crisis.

Neville's two Manchester hotels will be closed to the public, freeing 176 beds for NHS and other medical staff.

The former United captain said none of his staff will be made redundant or asked to take unpaid leave.

"It is something we are delighted to have been able to come to an agreement with," Neville said.

"It is at this moment in time that the whole of our industry needs to show solidarity, not just for our staff in these uncertain times, but for the people who need the accommodation most in the coming months," Neville said.

Neville co-owns two hotels with former team-mate Ryan Giggs, the Stock Exchange Hotel in the city centre and Hotel Football at Old Trafford.

Both with be closed to the public on Sunday and available to health workers from Friday after consultation with the health service in Greater Manchester.

"Our staff will operate the hotel as normal when health workers are allowed to stay there without any cost whatsoever when they need isolation away from family members who might be affected," explained Neville.
JUST FOUND OUT THAT CHELSEA ARE DOING THIS TOO
Its sad that it has taken a National Pandemic for companies to wake up and give things that are very much needed to our glorious Emergency Services.
A shame none of this applies to the supermarket delivery drivers!
Although I'm a hgv driver and now classed as a key worker getting food to stores, let's not forget the whole chain, as without warehouse staff etc we'd be picking the items and loading ourselves, and of course the people serving in stores, team work

Bingo!, what i hope this has shown this country, and particularly the tories, is that the NHS is our front line in almost everything we do on a daily basis, because without our health the whole house of cards can and will crumble, so yeah i hope this is wake up call for the entire country.
If they really want to do something for NHS, close this damn shops to the public !
Shame Costa Coffee feeling as generous.
It’s funny the government advises to stay out of pubs and restaurants, yet these are giving frontline staff incentives to go in. Absolute joke and free publicity.. free petrol and hotel fair enough..
I showed my I'd in McDonald's yesterday and was told they weren't doing free coffee for anyone

They need to make it possible for deliveries

(Can show NHS ID on delivery or by email)
So almost all offers for things that we’ve been told not to do... confused.

My wife's a nurse, she is following the governments and her line managers advice and staying away from pubs, cafes, restaurants etc. Why are these places encouraging front line critical services to go against gov advice? Of all the people we need to protect it's the very people these offers are aimed at. Call me cynical but I think these companies are just after a free bit of publicity.

yes and no, working for a major port we are still going and will be throughout this, we still need to keep stuff coming into the country but we are not forced to come into contact with the general public daily increasing the personal risk etc. I think the super market delivery drivers deserve particular recognition.
Well done for putting this all together!

oh nice! i'll see if i can source any further info TY
Nando’s always have 20% off, but the trick is they give you a maximum of £4 off bill. So if your bill comes as £20 , then you will get £4. But if your bill is £40, so technically the discount should be £8 but in their t&c, the maximum discount is £4. So you get only £4. Therefore, it is good that they are offering these offers but don’t get carried away. Always read the small prints. Thanks for all those who are offering free drinks and others. Much appreciated.

I have nothing but praises for Emergency Services (all of them), infact all public services in england that i've had the opportunity to use would get my thumbs up. ...if there was a heat button, you could count on mine...
I'd rather have a pay rise and may be even a pat on the back from our CEO in the NHS but as usual that will never happen....😦

True that!!! All the above should be extended to all the "key workers" at the moment!!! All of us in retail work hard to put up with the demands!!!

After all these are companies interested in profits first and foremost.

Just curious is all.

Supermarkets should deliver Essential items directly to Hospitals for the staff. I.e. Internal mini marts only accessible to NHS keyworkers. They are going to have more than enough to do without worrying about basic shopping.

They’re very useful and used more than you may think.

During the 2011 riots I was looked after well by several big chains who kept me and my colleagues fed and watered. We were doing very long shifts in full public order gear - flameproof overalls, pads, helmets, shields - it’s hard work. Not having to cook or prepare a pack up for those long duties meant we could stop for a very short break and eat. It kept us going and meant we stopped the rioters quicker.

There’s something emotional about pulling together. When we were getting petrol bombed, bricks and all sorts thrown at us, our van windows smashed and literally fighting in streets with thugs with bats and all sorts of weapons - it was an amazing feeling getting people saying thanks, hugging us, shaking our hands and showing support for us. You realise that you’re not hated by all and some appreciate you.

These companies are here to make money, no denying that, that’s what companies do. But they make nothing by offering the emergency services free food and drink or discounted meals. They’ll get publicity but surely that’s deserved?

While the emergency services are fighting to keep the public safe, these companies are seeing to their basic needs which in turn lets us rest and refuel. So I give them fuel credit. They’re joining in to help as best they can and teaming up with us.

We don’t get to work 9-5 and when it’s required it’s literally ‘go go go’ without stopping. Any help like this is always welcome and appreciated.

I'm a carer to my disabled son, I have a carer's card issued by my local council and receive the Carers Allowance benefit, does anyone know whether I would qualify to any of these offers? Thanks in advance.
