    NHS Discounts

My sister wants an Orange San Fran phone and was hoping to use my mums NHS discount after reading some posts on here. Was that a limited time offer or is there a website that people use for accessing the discounts? After a little more research it sounds like only certain NHS trusts have signed up to a scheme? I'm really confused by it all! Regardless of it she can get the Orange discount, are there any discounts my mother might be entitled to?
    Thanks!

She can still get it in a store, but not online.

She needs to take a payslip (dated in the last 3 month) into an Orange store and they give 20% (I think).

The only online discount is if you have an Orange payg sim already (and have topped it up), then they'll give you £30 off.

The stores and the online website are run separately and have their own offers. . .

If its your mums discount card (for which Im underwriting the discounts as a taxpayer), then why are YOU using it?

Your type will be the first to scream indignantly if it's withdrawn.

I'm not using it? And I pay my own tax as a teacher! Love the accusations!!! My sister is 14, I think as a child we all ask our parents to help out now and again. Think I'll report this kind of comment. Thanks for the first reply! Much more helpful. Have a good day!

If you read the San Francisco thread it says you can only get the discount instore and you will probably have to show a recent payslip............. you might have trouble finding shops with stock though.

Good point! Sister is in town so told her to just ask instore. Otherwise she reserved one in Argos anyway.

And thanks to the other comment, friends and family. Still laughing my head off at the comment.

There is a website called NHS discounts that you can get your mum to register with and its gives information on discounts that she can get. All I have ever needed was my id with photo on. But they have accepted my payslip too when I forgot it once. Don't know if you realise but she also gets 10% off dorothy perkins and 15% from roman originals.

she wasn't aware of any discounts she could have, although she remembered being told at work about them! Doesn't understand the internet world much, but will pass it all onto her! Will cheer her up a bit!

Most of my work mates didn't know either, also a lot of them paid out for a discount card that they were told they would need to get discounts, They don't their ID card is more than sufficiant.

As far as I'm aware NHS Discounts doesn't cost the nhs or the taxpayer a penny - its simply a way for retailers to offer a discount to the UK's largest employer and attract extra business (which is why they can extend it to families/friends etc)

The country is 3 trillion in debt. 77k for every man/woman/child in the country. Those in the bloated public sector don't comprehend they are adding to this ("I'm a taxpayer too!" lol). The indignence is borne from ignorance of basic economics. Just annoys me to see peoople who think NOTHING of fiddling the system. The sense of entitlement is beyond belief.

It's for friends and family. They are not fiddling the system since the discount is from the manufacturer/shop not the NHS or tax payer.

Your sense of stupidity is beyond belief!

Why the hell do you think this offer comes directly out of the NHS budget or taxes? It doesn't
