    nights or days ???

well i have a huge decision to make. i am a manager at a supermarket and cant decide to stay on nights or come back on to days. i enjoy the job the people and the extra money but miss socialising with friends as much as i did. my gf complains a bit that she is not sleeping with me every night but she is happy for me to do what i feel is best. i have been chopping and changing my mind whilst i have been doin my 12 week trial. i just cant decide HELP

i know but 5k more and back to back days off and less stress much less stress

deffo days-you may enjoy the extra money m8,but eventually nightshift will wear you down, especially if you are in a relationship. Can seriously affect your health too after a long time.

With respect, do you think being a manager of ANYTHING is the right job for you, given your total bewilderment with something as complex as deciding your own shifts?

Yes, you must have a deputy manager, can't you do two weeks on two weeks off. Sorry but i'm not supermarket savvy  Go with whatever makes you happier, having extra money is great but if everyone you love and loves you is miserable then it's not worth it.

Depends what your gf looks like tbh

I worked both days and nights in supermarkets, for Safeway and Tesco. I agree that you get a lot more hassle on days and the money is less, but what you have to think about is youre quality of life. If you need the dosh then you have no choice to stay, but i nights were a killer for me. I couldnt sleep very well during the day. When I worked at Tesco there were some that would swear by working nights!

God help Tescos, if their managers cant decide on a decision that is 50/50 . No wonder their prices are always wrong and the general staff are useless. And yes ill get moaned at for this comment but who actually cares , its completely true

I enjoyed it when I lived at home. I was working for Safeway and got stitched up for a few months. It was a few years ago now, but was doing 6 nights in a row. Earned a shed load off dosh but ****** it up the wall!

When I worked for Tesco again got stiched up with it. Didnt enjoy it so much due to not being able to sleep. If youre unsure then I wouldnt bother mate. Offer to cover when needed, then you get to earn a bit of extra dosh anyway.

Money isnt everything mate. Last year I earned £8,000 more in a nex job but just get more grief about what needs spending on the house or kids etc.

I haven't spotted where the OP says he works for Tesco.

Biglad - I think it's best to sit down with your g/f and get her to tell you what she really really thinks. It might be that the extra £5K is a significant factor if you are saving up ( together?).

Make a list of pros and cons and grade them as to how much they matter, to help you to come to your decision.

People who work nights have a shorter lifespan than those who don't!

    Nice g/f:-D

It seems to me as if you are leaning towards nights then, with the less stress. Is there a minimum time you 'sign up ' for with the nights or can you just change when you want?

U must be the only man in the world whos girlfriend moans at you not sleeping with her every night, its usually the other way about. Get a job at mcdonalds , various shifts and similar pay
