Nikon Telephoto Lense

Found 10th Feb 2011
I m after a decent telephoto lense that will work with my D3100. I m learning so understand some of the geek speak. I was looking at the Tamron 58-300 mm lense but it has not IS or VR.

Which one should I go for, obviously the right balance between cost and what use I ll get out of it is important.

In other words help!!!!!!

I might be selling my Sigma 100-300 F4 which has been used twice soon if you are interested?

Been using it on my Nikon D300 and great results with my aviation photography
Does that have VR etc?
If you have the cash.....go for the Nikon 70-300VR .......its the best of the cheaper telephoto lenses.

2nd I would recommend Nikon newer but more basic 55-300 VRII lens
3rd Tamron 70-300 (with built in motor for Nikon)
and Last Sigma 70-300 APO DG on par with Tamron but a bit more money.
1 Nikon 70-300mm f4.5-5.6 G AF-S VR IF-ED Lens at £389 here warehouseexpress.com/buy…66a

2 Nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G VR AF-S DX NIKKOR at £228 here jacobsdigital.co.uk/p-4…a9a

3rd Tamron link £99 delivered jessops.com/onl…PZ1

4th Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 APO Macro Super DG Lens - Nikon Fit at £178 here warehouseexpress.com/buy…565

Because you have the Nikon 3100 .you will need Nikon AFS lenses or other brands with the built in motor to autofocus properly.

The 4 above are the 4 you will be looking at and only them 4.

There are others but they are into the £700+ range.

Hope that helps.

PM me if you need other help.

cheers fella, thas really useful
