I ment to say bumper . It helps with the signal. And iphone 4 are known for signal issues i have 1 myself

Might sound daft but have you connected your phone to your wireless Internet? It will give priority to that over 3g.

Your iPhone may not be able to pick up your 3G signal if it is weak. Your other phone will have probably been better at picking up this weaker signal.

Try the iphone in a Library or cafe or somewhere that has free WIFi & then you will know it's the poor signal at the house if you get 3G.

How would you tell if the 3G signal worked if connected to a WiFi........

What you need is a mate with the same phone/network to let you know when he gets a 3G signal & check your phone for one. Just make sure you have 3G turned on !!
