It's hardly surprising with the amount of dodgy and fake stuff sold on these sites.

Jeez that’s awful , they need to tighten things up
T&Cs state things listed by third parties can’t be verified and amazon take no responsibility- feel sad for those that don’t read them.

Amazon and eBay are absolute minefields for fake goods....

fake britain.

bbc.

Get Dom don’t get done.
Once upon a time you used to be able to get smoke alarms fitted free off the fire brigade. Not sure if you still can though. So for anyone that needs alarms a quick call to the local fire station might be an option.

Had that 10 years ago. Don't know if they still do it.

Now all the fire stations are closing, engines being decommissioned, staff hours being reduced to save on pension payments.

Before long you will be left with a garden hose and a fire extinguisher and some helpful neighbours to put out your blaze!
Not surprised
you spend your money on life saving devices and by a non branded model really but saying that even some of the big brands have been caught recently but then thats down to the poor testing process in this country. But as has been said many times on here, people can still import products from other countries which arent even tested to UK standards, just look at the Chinese junk we see on here daily.

they were never free, we paid for them in our taxes, the fire brigade believe they saved lives by giving them away which they might have done but if everyone bought their own you wouldnt need 5+ guys coming round to fit them and the brigade would have even more money.
Screwfix or B&Q probably best bet
Amazon used to be great but whenever I search for anything these days it's a massive sift through endless crap from names I've never heard of..
