I just bought a - Bosch PSB 14.4 LI-2 Cordless Lithium Ion Hammer Drill
from this deal: hotukdeals.com/ite…e=6

The plug was 2 pin's and did not come with a plug socket!! So I guess its EU, is B&Q allowed to sell this?? How can I use it if it comes with no proper plug or no converter, I swear this aint normal!!

Shall I take it back or just get a plug for the 2 pin??

Thanks

In it's supplied state it is "not fit for purpose". If you are happy with a simple plug converter ask the store manager to supply one free of charge (street markets sell these for £1.00 - £1.50).

Strictly speaking you could insist that they swap the European charger for a UK one, but they will likely say that they don't have any and simply offer you a refund instead - worth a try so.

Don't forget to ask for some store credit, to compensate you for the inconvenience of having to go all the way back to the store and petrol costs.

Thanks for the reply back...
I didnt know they would sell a product that has EU connection on it, I dunno if thats why there getting rid of this product cheap??

I think this product has gone back upto its normal price now so you think they would still swap it or will they just try to refund me? I dunno if it voids the warrenty by putting your own plug on the end?

cost me £6 in petrol..

Also they messed me about with the reserve service!! rarrr

Thanks

P.S.

I dunno what fuse it would use on the plug either 3amp , 5amp or 13amp... Does not mention on the website, manual etc. . .

Some less honest people might want to wait a week or so, and then try to return it for a refund at full price,

Although they are not obliged to refund withou a receipt they may be more inclined to when you point out that it is not fit for purpose

Even if you could do that and get vouchers I think they might moan saying the plug is missing and then accuss you thats its EU charger but in reality you bought it of them!! And without proof I think you would be screwed!! There service do suck a lot!! Lack of skills! !
I like to know if anyone who bought this DEAL got a Charger with a UK plug or a EU...

I think they shipped bunch of these Drills in and noticed it was EU then sold the batch of cheap...

You can actually plug standard European plugs into UK sockets, you need to stick a pen or something into the top bit of the socket, where the earth pin goes to release the catch. Then you can just plug it in as normal, might need a bit of force though...

Yeah I know, thanks for mentioning though... But I think it needs a plug with a fuse I dunno what amp fuse it would use, I cant use to less or to high ''Amp''
If it aint amped or the amp is to high it can blow and even kill the components!!
Stupid instruction's dont mention nothing about it, in what fuse amp it needs...

You can always work out what fuse it would need by using the voltage & wattage ratings.

E.g: I(Amps) = W(Power) / V(Voltage)

You can usually find the information on the chargers power pack.

About 18 miles from Brockenhurst to bournemouth...

It can use a Shavers plug - 2 pin convertor which is approved to BS5733, BS1363 plug/socket features and BS1362 fuse link. Approved by BSI and these 2 pin plug convertors come with a default 3AMP fuse and you can put a 5AMP into them!

I know the Bosch charger comes already fitted with a ''BS1363 Plug'' Which I read in the manual!!
''Not that I had a plug attached to mine lol''
But in any case I dont know what fuse AMP this ''drill charger'' uses so I guess I'd be ringing up B&Q and bosch...

I'm pretty sure it is illegal to supply it as it is.
It has to either have a 3 pin plug or a fitted conversion plug - not an adaptor.

True and is it normal B&Q stocking EU goods??

P.S.

Forgot to mention that the Drill had not been tampered with and had a sticker over the case so it was never opened... And also on the box theres a picture of the charger which shows no ''PLUG'' on it, just a EU connection with 2 pins on the lead... So I'm guessing that this Drill + charger is definitely a European version!! are they allow to stock these?? And if they are then they didnt supply me no plug!! I dunno if it would void the warranty by sticking on my own plug??

some of the tools i use which have a two pin plug are supplied with a 3 pin uk adapter (conversion) plug, the top is hinged & the two pin slots in & the top snaps together, its a very tight fit & i've never had a problem with connections etc.

]converter plug
