No wi-fi in bedroom - Wi-fi powerline adapter?

Looking for a decent, but cheap way to extend my internet connection (at the moment my bedroom doesn't pick up a signal, and when it does the download speeds are very slow).

I'm with Virgin, so looking for those 75Mbps speeds!

    Has to have wi-fi functionality.

Any suggestions? Budget is around £20-£30 max

None of those are powerline access points, they're just basic wi-fi extenders built into the plug instead of connected to it with a lead.

Do you already have a powerline network or would you need a pair of plugs in that budget?

all I have at the moment is the virgin superhub 2ac

so you either want power line WiFi extenders or a 2nd router configured to send signal to your bedroom. or can you move your existing router to a better location? how big is your house?

It's not that big, and the router is in a pretty central location with nothing surrounding it.

    Thanks for the advice!

I had same issue but to get a good speed upstairs, i am using TP-Link power line adopter AV2000 (£80) and getting full speed 100MB on LAN. AV1200 were only able to give around 70-75MB. For Wifi, i have added a Access point.

You can try these Link which are little above your budget.

Run an ethernet cable from the router to a 2nd access point in the home. You can buy low profile flat ethernet cable where the pairs are still twisted but they are in row. This should fit easily under the carpet but I wouldn't recommend walking or running chairs over it.

I have the same problem with my Virgin Internet not reaching the bedroom so got the BT adapter and works great.

To use an extender, it has to be placed somewhere between signal good and signal gone, it has to sit within the existing signal in order to extend it.

They often have (the first 2 look like it) an option to use in other modes, such as an access point if you could get an Ethernet cable to it

Those are the sort of things you've requested. While those units can do 75Mbps in practice, it'll only be under good conditions so you may only see half that. Faster ones will be a lot more over budget though.

So would you not recommend these products to improve the connection in my room?

Oh they'd definitely give you a strong and fast signal, but potentially at 'only' 30-40Mbps.

I'm using one of these currys.co.uk/gbu…tml

Main router plugged into downstairs and this upstairs on the landing works a dream to extend the wifi. Plus has an Ethernet port on for a wired connection

Doubt it. I get ~70 on my Duo power line which is more than enough.

have a look at your signal strength using a smartphone app called wifi analyser
