Nokia N95 8GB issues. Anyone else ?

I have one of these, and a while ago I had it de-branded from Vodafone network.
Have recently done a software update to it, and since then I seem to have lost my soft keys/shortcuts option. This is the two buttons just below the bottom edge of the screen, that I usually have for New SMS and Messaging. Also, I used to be able to press the Navigation key down and get straight into my Contacts, but even this has been lost. Now I have to go straight into the main Menu to access these.

Anyone know why or how this has happened? I've had various N95's for about three years now, and know my way around one quite well, but this has me baffled. Everything else seems to work, but I can't seem to remember how to get the version number displayed (it was a series of *#0000# I think)

Any help greatly appreciated.

You can reprogram softkeys and what the middle button does, I don't have mine near me, but it is in personalisation I seem to remember.
Wouldn't worry too much about it it is fixable. Or just update the firmware from Nokia. There are loads of pages on the net explaining how to do this.

Good luck.

Bud, try going to Settings , General, Personalisation, Standby Mode, Shortcuts. This then has the options of all the shortcuts on the front screen.

This is what I've been trying to do, but I have no option of Shortcuts, just Active Standby. :x

I have the latest FW. Just wondering if the latest one accidentally deleted Shortcuts as an option.

Oh yes. I can't stand that Active Standby.

Strangely enough, I just switched Active Standby ON and the display will not stay showing my main screen. It keeps reverting back to the Menu display, plus the Operator name disappears.

hmmm very strange. Not sure why that shorcuts has gone. Maybe you create a backup of all your contacts and files on the nokia suite, then do a factory reset to see if that works.

just had a play, to get the version number you go to Tools, Utilities, Device Manager. Mine is V 20.0.016

Try a reflash?

Thinking I may need to, but have only just got it back from Voda after being a brick once I did the latest FW update. They re-flashed it with latest FW on my behalf about 2 weeks ago. I am just wary of re-doing it, and bricking it again.

Are you on Voda as well? Mine is now V31.0.015 as a de-branded version.
