Non paying (ex)ebayer - any advice appreciated!

Hi all

A few months ago I sold a graphics card through ebay for £70 inc delivery.

Did everything I should have, waited for paypal payment & posted item special delivery.

A couple of weeks later the money was frozen in my account & soon taken out because of "fraudulent activity". Paypal washed their hands of it & said tough titty....as they do.

The buyer did (initially) respond to emails & said that paypal had made a mistake & could he pay me at his next payday.

To cut a long story short we are now about 5 months down the line & he has ditched his ebay account with me still £70 lighter in the wallet area.

I have his Name, home address & phone number & have phoned him a couple of times (1st time he was apologetic & said he would pay asap) ....... needless to say he is now avoiding my calls.

Part of me thinks that its not worth the rise in blood pressure to chase this up but the other part of me wants to pay him a visit whilst wearing a balaclava (if it wasnt for the 400 miles between my location & his).

What would you do?

I take it this transaction did not have seller protection???
I would send him a letter by Special Delivery informing him that he has 7 working days from delivery of this letter to refund you in full or you will take him to the Small Claims Court.

Nope no seller protection, am I right in thinking that only business accounts & premier accounts get this.

Small claim is probably the way I'm thinking of going but know nothing about that route - could I just be throwing more cash & time away?

Do you only have a Personal Paypal account? Very strange if you sell on ebay.

I know quite a few people who have taken scammers to court and won. You are very lucky, you have this thief's Name and Address and proof of delivery and proof of his refund.
You will get your costs back but the threat may be enough to get his sphincter moving :giggle: :-
