Hi peeps.
Just wondered if anyone knows if there's an app, or if it's at all possible to put a stop to all those sales calls.
I've already been with TPS for over a year, but still get the calls (tho' not as many on the landline).
I know I shouldn't answer 'unknown' numbers, but dash it all, I'm curious ( - and I'm not a cat so it shouldn't kill me).

Add the numbers to your block list? (Assuming it isn't a private number that's calling you)

I have a 'block list'? Where is it and where can I learn how to use it (will try googling)?
Thanks for replying btw, dbhoy; these flippin calls are starting to get to me a bit.

It all depends on what type of phone you have and I'll try advising where it'll be.

The better half has had a new phone for 2 months and has had a myriad of calls too, starting to assume it's a recycled number which previously belonged to a person in a lot of debt....

The kids got me one of those moto g phones; I know it can do all sorts of fancy things like games and movies, but I only ever use it for calls and texts.
I think these days they're not really phones - they're small computers with phones built in.

Well yes we do rely on our phones to do more these days

On android (might vary ever so slightly on a moto g, haven't used one myself) you'll be going into settings, call settings, call rejections, auto reject list, and from there you should be able to type in the unwanted numbers, then hit done, and that should be you, until the next new number calls.

Found settings, but no 'call settings'.

Found something in 'Google settings' (on the moto); Ads > Opt out of interest-based ads, and ticked the box.
Don't know if that will actually help, but sounds good anyway.

Sorry only just seen your reply, not sure if that'll block the calls if I'm honest but just have a root around in your settings, there should be something somewhere, if not have a look on the Google Play store, there should be quite a few free apps that'll allow you to block callers

Unfortunately that won't help - It will just stop google showing you relevant adverts whilst browsing online.
Moto G does not have a built in feature to block calls unfortunately -Best bet is to download Mr Number App from the play store and you can add to the blocked list there

Sophos anti-virus is free and can block withheld numbers or any number you want to put in. It can also block everyone not in your contracts. Sophos is used on the local libraries computers so must be very reputable.

That looks like an absolute cracker of an app (if it works) - just read about it here - and unless anyone can give a reason why not I will be downloading it shortly. Thanks UnicornRiver and Dbhoy for your help.

Long click the number in your call history-> send to voicemail.

Sorted.

Tried that, won't let me do anything other than delete from call log. Thanks for the suggestion tho' - appreciated.

Sorry, first add the number to your phonebook, then get the name from your phonebook and then set "send to voicemail" to on.

Install Mr Blocker its a Android App ,It works and is free

Just went to try that, but all I get is 'unknown' - there's no number to be found.

It means the caller witheld.

Nothing you can do except block ALL unknown numbers.

I've got the same phone.Go onto the google play apps store and download calls blacklist app. Then when you get a call you click on the app click from call list and the tick the number.

Download the app called Mr number, let's you block any calls you want. I use it all the time.
