Northumberland, Best places to go??? Any Advice???

Staying near to Alnwick for 3 nights this weekend, Been looking on all the travel guide sites and have loads of ideas of places to go and visit but thought i would put the question out to you and see if you had any of your own advice or recommendations of places to see..

The places have to be pram friendly, so no mountain walks.. or sailing...

So far im thinking or going to some of the castles if the weather is nice, be may up to Holy Island, stop in a few of the towns and villages on the coast...

Any advice would be much appreciated.. taking into account i only booked it last night! so not much time to plan!

Cheers

Rick

Hexham????! Have you been? Pete Doherty is a normal hexham citizen.
Berwick is nice, Holy Island (Lindisfarne), Seahouses, Amble. Good Museum in Ashington.

A friend mentioned Alnwick Gardens, think we may go there if the weather is nice..

I went to Seahouses on a school trip when i was 14.... May have to call in there and see whats its like..

Keep them ideas coming,...

If you should venture into Alnwick we have:
Alnwick Garden
Alnwick Castle (if open)
Alnwick Baliffgate Museum (usually has childrens activities).

If you come in for a meal I recommend Cafe Tirreno which is opposite the Playhouse (just outside the Bondgate Tower). No bookings required, just turn up (if busy, you can wait or go back later).

Plenty of familty friendly pubs if you fancy a bar meal during the day (Queens Head Hotel).

Outside of Alnwick, lovely beach at Alnmouth/Boulmer. You can have an enjoyable few hours at Seahouses (great fish and chips), or if going further south you can walk along the river in Morpeth.

All my experiences of Hexham (besides 1 camping trip) are bad, but thats mostly telecoms related.

Thanks for the advice, Seahouses, Bamburgh and Alnwick gardens seem a good option..

Also thought about some of the small coast villages like Newton By The Sea,,

Keep them fingers crossed for good weather!
