    Norton Free Upgrade?

    Hi all,
my norton subscription need renewing now, however last time, I was able to upgrade to the lastest version/2011 when I had the 2010 version... So I was wondering, before I pay a fair amount of money for the latest version this time, could I buy an older version and then upgrade it for free again (via "my norton" account page")?

Carn't actually help you other than saying I ran Norton on my PC/Laptop until it expired then moved to Microsoft Essentials for free, works a treat and doesn't slow down your PC like Norton does.

I personally dont find an noticable loss in spped for my laptop, however I've been running norton for soo long so I dont know!... Nortons improved alot in the past years so I'd likeo to keep on using it tbh, but I'd rather not pay a higher price then I need to, i'e paying for the latest version when I could possibly upgrade for free

dont know the answer to your question but i bought the 2 year one for about £10 on ebay, all you get is a code to extend your subscription, so its fab if you already have it installed

Ahh okay, when did you apple the code? ... I ask as sometimes selleres give "pre-used" codes, but if you've not experienced any problems, mind posting the item id so least I got that option too?

Norton is absolutely cack, theirs some free ones I'd recommend Avast or Microsoft security essentials.

if you feel you must pay for it then Kaspersky is probably the best.

thats why it was voted above Kaspersky and Eset for product of the year 2009 on AV-Comparatives.org and PCpro magazine (I think it was) just voted it class-A leader with 96% approval rating.

yes, Norton is the work of the devil.

free AV's. crap limited protection, no support, no firewall etc
if you can run 3-5 progs at once and get less resources used than 8mb RAM, do it.
