    Nvidia shield

Just wondering if anyone has a Nvidia shield and what there opinion is, thinking of buying one, mainly for Kodi as its supposed to be one of the best streaming boxes around. Any thoughts? Thanks

I have one and it is the best box I own out of Firebox, Chromecast and a generic android box. not sure it is worth paying more than twice the price over the Firebox though as that works just as well with Kodi.

I've had mine almost two years and haven't thought about replacing it with anything different once. It's superb. And worth the money if you can splash it. Will last you for at least 2 years easily. Mine hasn't lost any performance and its been through 2 big OS updates and it's currently on the latest version of Android (nougat) which is always nice.

If you just want kodi and android then buy an m8s mini ii or similar s905x box for £30-40. and then install the xannytech ROM.

if that sounds daunting then kodi isn't for you.
nvidia shield is overpriced. also you should use use spmc on android, not kodi. it's exactly the same programming, but optimised for android devices.

if you want 4k netflix, then get a wetek box, they too have the correct licences. €80 i think, but oos at the moment. i have the play 2, which includes a satellite or freeview tuner, so doesn't rely solely on streaming.

Wouldn't say the shield is overpriced. Especially if you use it for more than the one app. I rooted mine and run it as a plex server with Plug-ins. Have a custom launcher. Use it to game from my PC to my TV.

It's only classed as overpriced for people who don't like to spend money on premium products.

I think what you are saying is, the only reason worth getting the shield, is if you want to use it for gaming.

omg you rooted it, run a Plex server? and a custom launcher? are those features unique to a shield? no. all android boxes can do that.

anyway, i suggested what to use for just kodi, and i suggested a "premium" box that does more, one which includes a freesat/freeview reciever.
