O2 contract coming to an end. Iphone O2 or Orange

Looking for a bit of help/advice.
I've got a £25p/m O2 contract coming to an end on 28th October.
I was thinking about getting an iphone with them on the £35p/m 18month contract.
Due to being an existing customer I can upgrade and get a reconditioned 8GB 3G iphone for free. (normally £97 for a new 8GB 3G phone on this contract).
With Orange bringing out the iphone I was wondering should I wait to see what there tariffs are going to be.
Only thing is I dont know when Orange are going to bring out the iphone, but I've heard October and Novemeber dates.
If I do hold off and wait will I lose my chance to upgrade on O2 and get the reconditioned phone for free.
I dont think Orange will offer me a reconditioned phone for nothing being a new customer.
What do you think people?

its out on Vodafone soon too

o2 are crap in terms of their data connection speeds (ie web), reception and they're expensive, hold out and wait to see what the others offer

I know but I've heard thats not until January. Was'nt really wanting to wait until then, unless it's gonna be a big difference in tariffs.

How will that affect my current contract. Can I just go from month to month.
I know Orange has better network coverage

I wouldn't expect great offers, Orange CEO said the other day they are selling the iPhone on the promise of better 3G connection not better deals.

As you said Orange is before Xmas and Voda after, so its up to you if you can wait and see what tariffs they come with, O2's offer is likely to be a short term thing and by waiting you will be offered something different come November/December.

It 'might' be on Orange tomorrow. watch the website...

Tell o2 you're leaving, they doubled my minutes and texts and also gave me free unlimited web usage:thumbsup:

Since when is O2s network reception and coverage crap and orange's better? In terms of 3G coverage probably but I don't think it is for the 2G network...

I really doubt orange will have lower thier prices by a considerable amount come on now would apple want to loose the value of the iphone they still fetch a fair amount on ebay imagine if they slashed the prices they would loose so much in value.

Was that for the iphone? I've seen on here people saying that they never budge on the iphone contracts.
Thats one thing thats bothered me. At the moment I send a lot of text because I organise a football team. I send between 800 to 900 texts. The iphone contracts only have 500 texts.
I could threaten to leave with the prospect of Orange having better network and see if I get more texts?

Yea, I've saw the 9th october thrown about but personnelly I think thats just the date the O2 contract comes to an end. Read that orange most likely wont bring it out till 1 month after this date.

same happened to my mrs, she didnt take em up on the double mins and texts for now, she's waiting to see what's going on with orange..
