After the fight the losers will be the customers as they foot the cost of the fight!!!! This is a perpetuation of the bonus culture in UK. The top executives and sales are paid huge bonuses for increasing new business at the expense of the loyal customers. Their behaviour train the loyal customer to become dis-loyal as they get a better deal by constantly switching. The constant switching create extra adminstration and bureacracy thus reducing the effectiveness of the labour work force in UK with this constantly churning of the same customers. Of course the savvy ones will maximise personal gains by lowered costs with annual switching with all product and services but about 1 million people in UK deal with this constant churn and is hardly a good use of labour when they could manufacture proper stuff that is of use at home and export.
So where are all these 1 million people doing wasteful equivalent of needless government type of "paper pushing" :
1. banking and finance - with complex terms of conditions on mortgages, ISA, loans, savings so that old accounts get very low rates and new accounts get the best rates...e.g. the queues for ISA at the end March as people switch from bad rates to good rates
2. Insurance premiums - again constantly changing rates and terms - huge amount of junk mail to lure customers away, again the loyal customers get increasing premiums year on year while new customer get discounts
3.Credit cards - same again with balance transfers etc.
4.Rail fares - with such complex pricing schemes users call helpdesks and search around to get the best deal whilst people have little time pay exobitant fares
5. Telephone and broadband .. same again

..and on and on . I am not against competition which is healthy e.g. compete by better quality and services ...but the creation of complex rate schemes and discount of temporary nature (discount for 3 months then this happens ...and except.... if ..received by....) which most users forget after a few days is too much especially when so many people are employed to do this old fashion "paper pushing" but electronically.

£5 extra for Unlimited Data & Wi-Fi bolt on with these tariffs.
