Hopefully it goes on for 2 months. People don't spend much online due to the strike. Prices come down and MW2 costs £25 online. Everyones a winner baby.

It will have a positive effect on High Street shops this year rather than a negative i think. But online business - Amazon, Play etc. need to get somehting sorted for xmas otherwise there gunna get hit hard.

when i was there, there was talk of putting all postmen on 1hr contracts and getting them in as and when rather than employing them full time, this is one of many unfair plans the union has fought off, you aint got a clue

lol, I'm not trying to get fancy about anything..... just think the thread title (when strikes aren't even confirmed yet) and saying that FS/FT will come to a stop is a bit OTT

Looks like it...........:whistling:

Scot 1295 - You obviously don't work for them - you obviously have no idea what they are asked to do. Do you really think people would go on stike and not be paid unless things had got so bad they were desperate.......................................

People make me soooooo angry when they don't know the facts and jus think about how THEY would be incovenienced.................................

Not true

They are also delivering their own p45's

The volume of parcels delivered by RM is likely to be a fraction of the letters and I'd imagine (without looking at it in more depth but given the cost of sending parcels via a non RM route) is probably their loss leader, simple fact is no one has the infrastructure to deliver the vast amount of letters that RM do on a daily basis...

I am sorry but i have not said anything strongly opinionated about them striking this thread was just to alert others.

And thanks for the lesson on what a strike is i always thought that it was people just taking some unpaid time off work for the crack.

So many people in the UK who are desperate for a job right now, and you got workers like these!

If they dont like their job, or the company who runs it, they should just leave, and give up their job to someone who really wants one and would do it without moaning!

Royal mails rep is slowly going down the pan, amazon has suspended their 25mil contract, these workers should be careful that they have a job/company to go back to.

It's only for parcels over 500g, which I would imagine make up a small percentage of Amazon's sales. I doubt it'll even affect RM that much.

Once a day! It will be like living in hell, I love getting post everyday, I have so much stuff delivered all the time. HUKD is the main culprit here!

strange though postal strikes or not how the bills still seem to arrive on time

I remember this poem about Men that go on Strike when I was a kid.....I'm gonna dig it out .......It is about God so no reference to that please..I'm not that religeous......just remembered it. Makes me think! What if we all went on strike??
Here we are:

If God Should Go On Strike

How is it that God above
Has never gone on strike
Because he was not treated fair
In things He didn't like.

If only once He'd given up,
And said, 'That's it, I'm through!
I've had enough of those on earth,
So this is what I'll do;

I'll give my orders to the sun -
'Cut off the heat supply!'
And to the moon - 'Give no more
Light, and run the ocean dry.'

Then just to make things really tough
And put the pressures on,
'Turn off the vital oxygen
Till every breath is gone!'

You know, He would be justified
If fairness was the game.
For no one has been abused
Or met with more disdain.

Than God, any yet He carries on
Supplying you and me
With all the favors of His grace
And everything for free.

Men say they want a better deal
And so on strike they go.
But what a deal we've given
To God to whom all things we owe.

We don't care whom we hurt
To gain the things we like.
But what a mess we'd all be in
If God should go on strike!

LMAO...Talk about kill a thread:lol:

If only the public knew what was really going on within the Royal Mail. The reason for the strikes has nothing to do with pay whatsoever. It's for job security, the closing of offices and more work being enforced upon them amongst other things. I don't know the ins and outs of it. But Royal Mail are already cutting jobs, cutting hours (including overtime) and making deliveries longer which means longer hours and our mail being delivered even later than it already is!

Lol, wouldn't it be funny if highstreet shops were paying RM staff to cause havoc at the busiest time of the year, so they could increase sales, rather than struggling every year?
