    October half term dates

Sorry for silly question, but can someone tell me what are October term off week dates for nursery schools? My daughter is starting her nursery school on 23rd September and we want to plan for holiday during her half term off. School is closed, so can't confirm with them today. Any help appreciated.

it will vary from region to region and sometimes even from school to school. you can check on your local council website what the most likely dates will be. or even the school/nursery website

Possibly different based on where you are in the country and which council. Best bet would be to Google your council name and "half term dates". In Southampton it's 24-28th.

I am in Redhill in Surrey. I will try googling.

The school website usually has the term dates. If not updated yet, its usually on the newsletter before the summer break If you go back on the last newsletter. For Manchester its the last week of October and they always go back the day after the clocks change.

I checked on school website, it mentions Half Term from 24 October to 28 October 2016. I had this perception that half term off comes after 5 weeks of term start, however if my daughter is starting on 23rd September, 5 weeks don't complete by 24th October. Is 5 weeks not necessary?

it doesn't matter when your daughter starts as there will be other children who will have started earlier maybe.
my daughter starts reception on the 14th of September but the school opens in the 5th of September and they're taking a few children every few days. I'm assuming your nursery is doing the same.

I think you are right. The school is having 3 intakes for Nursery, first one on Monday 19th SEO and third one on 23rd September. So it's safe to assume that half term dates are uniform for all intakes irrespective of intake date. Thanks a lot to you all for your help.

it's usually 6/7 weeks in every half term. kids are actually going back to or starting school either 05/09 or 12/09, depending on their school and borough. That's when u start the count from.

Agreed - can't see why the website would not have checked the data

Look at school website although our local schools are poor at posting the correct dates that include the in-service days. Your local council will have all the dates though but not including in-service days. Then the 3rd party websites take information from the school and council
