A lumpy head Both male and female giraffes have two … A lumpy head Both male and female giraffes have two distinct, hair-covered horns called ossicones. Male giraffes use their horns to playfully fight with one another. As male giraffes age, calcium deposits form on their skulls and other horn-like bumps develop. Giraffes can have up to three of these large bumps, two in the rear of the skull and one in the forehead region, so that it may look like they have five horns.

wow what a radom question/thread made me lol, and reminded me that i would like to know to
horns
Both sexes have horns, although the horns of a female are smaller. The prominent horns are formed from ossified cartilage, and are called ossicones. The appearance of horns is a reliable method of identifying the sex of giraffes, with the females displaying tufts of hair on the top of the horns, where as males' horns tend to be bald on top — an effect of necking in combat. Males sometimes develop calcium deposits which form bumps on their skull as they age, which can give the appearance of up to three additional horns.[15]

Antennea. Giraffes are in fact just MASSIVE insects. Strange, but true.
All this talk of giraffes and their horns reminds me of a trip out to the zoo that I went on with my school yearrrrs ago. Nothing much of it sticks in my mind, except for when were lead to the giraffe area by our tour guide, who was a middleaged woman who posessed a fantastically enthusiastic passion towards all aspects of the creature and of the ways in which nature has formed itself. Picture a Scottish middle-aged female Steve Irwin crossed with a nurse, and you're pretty much there. The bit that got us was when she began to tell us (with highly animated hand gestures as well as words) about how wonderful the giraffe's ***** was, and how it could expand to fit any cavity into which it was inserted. You can probably imagine how a class load of 10 years olds responded to that.
