OEM Parts e.g. MANN

Hi

I bought this fuel filter the other day for my VW GOLF.
It got me curious why MANN was stating fitment parts for OTHER manufacturers i.e. Hengst n Mahle!?!?

Also, the original fuel filter that came with the car when it was originally delivered was made by UFI Filters! Anyone heard of that before?

OEM parts really annoy me as the quality n price difference between some are just ridiculous!!!

See pic please. Are they all under 1 group/umbrella?

The icon with two horizontal arrows = interchangeable with.
Ford, Mercedes-Benz, whatever, are just an assembly place of car parts manufactured to brand specifics, designed to last for as long as the brand new car warranty.

after market parts can be better quality.

ufi specialise in filters, Italy i believe, pretty big company.
If it helps:

1) and 3) are from Eurocarparts.
2) is from their plant in Wonju in South Korea.

1) states that it is interchangeable with Knecht/Mahle while 2) and 3) do not have any.

Yes but why would you detail competitor products on your packaging!?

Still bemused at the fact they state competitor names on their package! That’s stupid

How so? Why would you want customers to buy more competitor products!?

The same way some people would look at the competitors price and see this product is cheaper and will fit so they buy this instead.

because most people would remove the old one take note of it’s part number and buy an OEM. The OEM lists the parts it’s changeable with so it’s easy to check you have the right one. It’s far from an advert.

That’s why they do it, also Mann are hardly OEM anyway who do you think makes the Audi branded filters. Between Mann, Bosch, Mahle and Hengst supply filters for all of the German car manufacturers and you have most of those listed on your box.
