thats maspalomas and where the airport is its alot cooler due to the winds in peurto rico in the south of the island it gets upto 40 degrees plus in august its a known fact that the link you sent me are not the real readings of that when your in resort in peurto rico gran canaria .... the heat comes from the dust from the coast of africa

I went on my first holiday abroad to alcudia with my partner and then four year old daughter excellent place absolutely loved it!! We went in sept 2009 and we had lovely weather every day for 8 days it was mid 20's but felt so hot!! we stayed at delfin azul everything about the holiday was perfect! Been on 3 holidays abroad since and none have come close to Alcudia! Great choice

    er ok then

historical averages taken over many decades are wrong and you are right with your 3 years of data

those stats are from Maspalomas which is the most southerly point in GC, not from the airport

you just had exceptional weather but the average is far lower than 40C! oO

Most of the med is going to be hotter than the canaries hence why summer is their low season.

best bet for cooler temps is lanzarote or fuerteventura as they are cooler than GC and tenerife. Or even Northern Tenerife.

    ok ok you win

Lovely clean beach at Alcudia, you can walk out in the sea quite far and see the fish too. We went early Aug last year and it was in the mid 30's for a few days!

ahhh lovley dont do fish but love a nice beach and clear water

I am tracking Gran Canaria temperatures against Malaga temperatures as I'm going to GC in August ( thinking of moving/ retiring in Malaga area maybe). It has been consistently in the mid 20s in GC for weeks now while Malaga is well into the 30s and reached 38 one day!!! I spent two weeks in the Delfin Azul too a couple of years ago and the temperature on the Burger King display was in the high 30s. Last year we did Lanzarote and the temperature was the same in the high 30s. I think you can generally say It will just be hot in August wherever and sometimes it is hotter in places you wouldn't expect.

What hotel are you staying at op? I've been to Alcudia maybe 5 times so I know it really well. My dream stay would be at the Viva Sunrise. It's a LOVELY place. Have a look at it when you're there for future reference. Love Alcudia for morning runs and the view from the port across the bay is beautiful. Hopefully 'Alcudia Day' will be on when you're there. Lots of fantastic entertainment in the day and night. It was that time of August when it was on 2 years ago. Keep your eyes peeled for any advertisement as not promoted well in hotels.

Cool. It's the ideal location. Within walking distance of port, old town and the strip ... and the big Lidl on the corner by Burger King. It sells the same American cookies as at home. (Moh and son got addicted only to find they could get them in the UK too) Little things ...

Well it is a bit deceptive as it's set back from the beach as the road comes inland a bit. You cross the main road down a side street cut through a kids play area and you're there. Plenty of loungers about. LOVELY beach.

They don't have nudists strolling down the high street in Playa del Ingles though do they? My son is 15 and that's a very daunting thought oO

Lol. They do speak Spanish in Gran Canaria though. How come you didn't pick up 'dos cervezas por favor' already? I think most people know that one and say it ALL the time to impress. I have a degree in Spanish and to be honest I hardly speak a word when I'm there as it confuses the natives. You should see their faces when I do speak it though 'I thought you were English' they say.
