I like pretty red lights :w00t:
I was told that they don't sell the shrooms anymore - is this true?
any advice on best coffee shops near the centre would be useful.............
great advice so far - keep 'em coming...............

I'll keep an eye on this thread too, I'm off to Amsterdam next Tuesday.

The flower market,Anne Frank's house,Van Gogh museum.......these are the kind of things you are looking to see I presume!!:whistling:

Don't wear a Londsdale top! It is being used by Neo Nazi's or something like that. My brother in law was telling me yesterday about his mate (who is going bald so has a skin head type hair style) wore one in Amsterdam and got pushed around and had his foot stamped on etc in a bar before someone told him!

Careful with the con artists around the edge of the red-light district facing the train station square, especially guys offering to give you good exchange rates on your currency. ( Don't ask! lol )

And on a more positive note, definitely make time for the Rijksmuseum if you want to see some fantastic Dutch Masters. It was my personal highlight, and right across from my hotel! The tram (no. ??) goes there direct from the train station, or about a 20 minute walk.

EDIT: I've read your post more carefully, and I'm guessing museums aren't on your list of priorities. I have nothing to offer in terms of drugs or illicit sex as I avoided both completely. Very good thing too (or sad from your point of view?!)

The Grass Hopper is a good place, bit pricey but is smack bang middle of the city and near all the good places. Its also right by the main canal so you cant miss it.
