    help would be highly thanked.

You need to split the document into sections and when you page number remove the link to the next section so that each can be different

    that should work fine

make sure you split using SECTION breaks, not page breaks.

Im assuming what your trying to do is have different page numbering on the first two pages (contents) then another set of page numbering on the body of the document (5 pages) and then another on the last two (appendices). Correct? If so adding section breaks so you have three sections and then page numbering will work.

nearly fixed, how do i go about linking appendices to the last page of the contents so it will continue counting iv then v?

You dont link them as such, you just modify the page numbering to start at a different number. Under 'format page number' just select 'start from' and change to iv
