    Office 365 question

    Hi,

I am looking to get Microsoft Office, Ive been looking at the 365 thing, I know its a subscription and it renews every year, but the question I have is, can you actually install the software onto a computer? Like its an actual program you can open offline as well as online.

    Here is the link: pcworld.co.uk/gbu…tml

Or is there a cheaper route to go down? But i need a license that will allow for 5 computers.

I suspect that the days of software arriving on media are now gone, especially as many devices no longer include a drive to read the cd! My last cd purchase simply installed an install routine which immediately connected to the internet and downloaded the software to my hard disk, where it was installed. As I read it, Office 365, does the same, you only download what you want from the package and add or subtract as required. Not a bad thing is some ways as Office takes up a lot of space if you install the lot.

    From their FAQ:-

Internet access is required to install and activate all the latest releases of Office suites and all Office 365 subscription plans. For Office 365 plans, Internet access is also needed to manage your subscription account, for example to install Office on other PCs or to change billing options. Internet access is also required to access documents stored on OneDrive, unless you install the OneDrive desktop app. You should also connect to the Internet regularly to keep your version of Office up to date and benefit from automatic upgrades. If you do not connect to the Internet at least every 39 days, your applications will go into reduced functionality mode, which means that you can view or print your documents, but cannot edit the documents or create new ones. To reactivate your Office applications, reconnect to the Internet. You do not need to be connected to the Internet to use the Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, because the applications are fully installed on your computer.

yes, it installs on your PC, and you can use all the features offline, and save everything to your hard drive and just back up when using the cloud service when online.
