Office desktop advice please, what should i buy?

Im looking to buy a new office desktop tower. Budget is under £600.

It will not be used for gaming, although 1080p video streaming is a must.

I was considering this yesterday it was £639.99 from ebuyer so over budget and doesnt have an SSD.

    Intel Core i5-6400 2.7GHz
    8GB DDR4 + 1TB HDD
    DVD Writer + WIFI
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX960 4GB
    Windows 10 Home 64bit

    Any opinions appreciated.

I got a stonking HP Envy from John Lewis that had been returned. May be worth a visit if you have one near you. If you don't intend playing games or editing images or video to any great extent then ignore the video card spec as all of them will suit your need today. With business it's as much about connectablity so make sure you have plenty of ext usbs, the sound out put is in the best place for you etc.

That's wasting a lot of money on components with no use to you like an expensive graphics card and is missing things that will have a big impact like an SSD. It's the wrong choice of system for your requirements.

Generally for a business/video watching machine I'd go for an 6000 series i3, a 240GB+ SSD, 8GB or 16GB of memory and an HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort output. That should be around £400, although unfortunately the prebuilt market right now isn't great so you may have to spend a bit more to get a model with a decent sized SSD as they're often bundled with faster processors etc.

Don't bother with a graphics card unless you need lots of monitor outputs. Intel's integrated graphics is just as advanced for video decoding*

*Well, Intel's hardware doesn't support Main10 decoding like the newer ranges of graphics cards until the release of the 7000 series chips after Christmas but it's equal to the older models like the GTX 960.
