    Oh no's

Decided to untangle my tumble weed of wires and found some speakers. Plugged them in and there was a little poof and the green light on the speakers started flashing. A couple of minutes later I realised it was the wrong plug. It smelt a bit 'burnt'. When I plugged the correct cable in it hums and the green light is constant but there's no sounds. Have I broken them ?

:-( argh, i'm such an idiot, really good speakers as well.

Perhaps the little poof could explain
    a) what he was doing in your home
    b) what he thinks has happened.
