Oi hi misk srs thread MY TELE HAS BROKE :'( <real tears

Does anyone know about this 6 year sale of goods act thing?? its only 2 years old and out of this silly warranty and was VERY expensive

I called currys (who we bought the tele off) and spoke to some jumped up call handler who thought he was the be all and end all!!! spoke to me like well it would be unfair to say what!!

Trading standers helpline thing was helpful but i need to go down there later and need to quote the mumbo jumbo to currys (and stomp my feet a bit!) other than sog says it should last 6 years what else do i say (while trying to remain calm!)

    love you guise

Is it under 2 years? It makes a difference. (The EU directive means shops cant fight a 2 year EU warrenty - though they might fight the SOGA)

    where are you located?

Get the direct dial number for your local store. They are much much better and will actually try and help in my experience.

BTW, its 2 years old and out of warranty. You have no chance, but the advice above is for if you fancy wasting time with it anyway

I imagine they'll want you to get an engineers report on it (which you'll have to pay for) they're entitled to request this when its over a year.

You very much DO have a chance, it may just be a bit time consuming. The reason that John Lewis now give 5 year warranties is because they lost two court cases involving TV's that broke after 3 years.

ring the manufacturer direct i had a panny home cinema that was 2 years old and they agreed to pay 90 % of the repair

No its just a bit more ridiculous than the other rumours......

ohh shhhhhh I was trying to put them off the scent that its actually MY love child :-D :whistling:

tbh currys have the worst service ever, so you dont have much option with them, i would reccomend speaking to the store manager and explaining to him you paid £2700 for a tv and would expect to last more than 2 years, you can also ring currys customer service helpline saying the same thing if nothing works your best option is claiming on your home insurance.

Probably not, after 1 / 2 years, it is usually down to the manufacturer after this initial warranty period.
