How much of your space is free?

go to control panel then add/remove and see if there is anything in there that you get rid off, like games etc

    NONE!

First go to start/programes/accessories/system tools/disk clean up and try that

    good question!
I have got a partition on mine that I want to get rid of, how do I do it for free also?

Go "My Computer" Right click on C drive, select properties, then "disc cleanup"

Also Control Panel and select add or remove programs. Remove stuff your not using.

Did the disc clean and defrague thingy last night but didn't hardly do anything!! I do it fairly regularly though

Is your AV up to date. Could be a virus causing this. Or you would have realised sooner that your hard disc was filling up.

Lol, so you've deleted some stuff and it's managed to free no space at all?

OK, last suggestion. Delete all the porn pictures. That should give you 75% of your drive back.:w00t:

buy a new hard drive and connect it as a slave, then you will have your very owm slave, lol.

That removes a lot of temp internet files etc. often and can sometimes provide a few gb. You need to now remove things you don't need, ensure you have no viruses etc. now to make sure that no adware (etc.) is taking up your capacity. Otherwise, as above, go to control panel/add remove programs and delete programs you are sure you don't use such as old games. If you are not sure whether something is important, ask here.

you could also do a search for a program called ccleaner. Its free and will clean the temporary files and folders.

This can add up to a fair size of parts. Of course, you will need to install it! (its tiny).

Windows has an equivalent - go to start - My computer - right click mouse over C: disk and select 'Properties' from the pull down menu. Click on the 'Disk Cleanup'. Its nowhere near as good.

While there I would also consider a quick 'Disk Check' - click on the Tools tab (this requires a system reboot). This will check for errors which may be causing a false space reading or any other problems.

Credit to John for finding this, but there's a super-useful app called Spacemonger which you can download from sixty-five.cc/sm/ which gives you a visual representation of your harddisk and the files on it, so you can see exactly what folders and files are taking up all your space. It's well worth a shot, along with CCleaner and the disk checking tips already mentioned here.
