ok strange medical question

right i am looking for a word. it begins with an m, it is another word for a harmless fleshy lump. it is a ganglion or melonoma.

my son recently had a colonoscopy and they found a lump. his surgeon said its probably this m word and i cant remember what the m word is. i would be very grateful if you could help.
thanks
jennie

cheers hun

do you maybe mean a fibroadenoma? I can't think of anything eles sorry

Original Poster

im sure it was m but i will google that

I think a ganglion is a hard fleshy lump found unde the skin - normally quite small and can be in the hands etc.

Please bear in mind I have done no research whatsoever - just think I remember my friend having on once!

All I can think of is benign, but that's not a "m" word.

Well given he had a Colonscopy, have a look at the wikipedia page, see if any words sound familiar

Clearly neither of them then ....

I did wonder if the molluscum bump was different to the molluscum tags my niece has thought perhaps it may be an internal thing.

Jenny, your son's G.P. should have his notes, I'm sure he would tell you if you ask.

was it a lump in the mucosa??? (stuff that lines the digestive tract)

Original Poster

i dont know i just kknow that it is to the left just out of the rectum, into the colon

Melena- black bloody stool!
or meckel diverticulum - a small outpoutching within the ileum! Common in infanta and its a lump close to the colon.

Whatever it is, I hope its all sorted out very soon!

Good luck to you & especially the wee man!

Original Poster

thank you hun, i just want to know what to expect. we are waiting for an mri for him soon

Meconium?

Do you remember what he said about your son's condition? What I mean is, do you need to know this particular word to help you find out more about what's wrong? Maybe if you try googling his symptoms the word will pop out at you. I find that I am so worried and stressed in these situations I never remember what the doctor has said, when I get home I feel bloody stupid, maybe you could record what is said next time?
