    Okay I need some Advice......

My friend told me about this job that I should apply for since I have the relevant qualification (so has he), so I applied, today I had a Test and interview. They said I passed the test and did quite well (got 88%), I then went on to an interview which was about 45mintues long pretty brutal.

The business has 4 places for the job, I have been told that only 10 applicants have been successful to get to this stage. so I got a 4/10 chance of getting the job. My mate too has applied and his interview/ Test is on Thursday. He told me to meet him tomorrow at the pub and tell him what was on the test and the sort of questions in the interview so he can be prepared.

I don't know if I should screw him over and tell him lies so I got a better chance of getting the job, or I should be honest because if it wasn't for him I would not be here?

    Cliffs:
    -friend told me about job
    -had interview/test, did pretty well
-friend has interview Thursday, wants to meet me tomorrow and go over what the test/ interview is like
-Now do I lie so i got a better chance of getting the job my self.

Serious thread, if you want to make stupid comments or joke, please dont

the questions might be different, just give him a jst of what happened.

    hope you get it

for me it depends on how good mates you are, if not tell him lies, if good friends help him out end of the day theres 4 jobs going and you both could get it

if he`s a good mate no,don`t lie to him, good mates hard to come by, if he`s just someone you know then why not????

    dont lie, hes your friend!

be a man and face the competition!

yeah your friend told you about the job but you didn't have any idea of what was going to be asked. if i were you, i wouldn't tell him. it's not that you're 'screwing him over' but why put him at an advantage that you never had. at the mo he has the same chance as you- just explain this to him

I can't believe u need to ask - It's down to him u got the interview - tell the the truth.

but then I could miss out on what is a really good job, I think ill do him some stuff, and lie about the other half.

What a sad person you are to even ask the question,do you have no concience? I'm suprised you have any friends1

If you're even considering 'screwing him over', you're not much of a friend. If they're generic interview questions, then it probably wouldn't do any harm to tell him. If they're more problem solving type, I wouldn't tell him the answers. It'll probably seem obvious to the interviewers, and it's generally not the answers that they're after but your approach and methodology. If they question him further about something he doesn't know, then he's going to get stuck.

there more problem solving based. The interview starts off generic , but then goes into a lot of heavy detail

Don`t forget he was a good enough mate to let you know about the job in the first place

He could also have thought that when he told u about the interview in the first place - but he chose to tell u coz ur a mate:thumbsup:
Tell me ur winding me up?!!

I personally would not screw over a mate, everyone is fair game

ok, say you lie to him, give him the wrong info etc, and you got the job and he didnt..........how would you feel?

If he is a good, close mate its best to be truthful, let the interviewers and test choose the suitable candidate.

sorry meant to say everyone else is fair game

Surely someone with your qualifications, personality and achievements wouldn't need to stoop to something as low as what you suggest.

So what is the actual job for? (ie the role)

I didnt get to were I am today by being nice

You say you're pretty tight, so I would give him a general overview, but not go into great detail. At least that way, you have done something to help without jeopardising your friendship or chances at the job (just my opinion)

i agree. tell him what to expect but you dont have to tell him exactly what they ask. plus, if he was going for the job and you were'nt, would you give him pointers to help if you could? If you say you're in a job where you should be set for life then you should give him the chance to get where he wants to too.

why dont you just give him an idea of the types of questions/ interview procedures that way your not telling him the answers but your not lying either...

    Same as what lyndsbowes says

    Nope. You sure didn't.

So what is the job? (You must have missed the question previously.)

Tell him all the questions you think he would be able to answer anyway. That way he will think you are being a mate although you are still slightly screwing him over:thumbsup:

Come on. Spill the beans. Nothing to get embarrased about.

Come thursday you wont even remeber most of the questions, I would help him prepare the best you can if I was in your shoes.

I would tell him the truth, there are other factors involved in who get the job not just the test. I let a friend down today by not telling the truth and I feel pretty **** about it right now and if I could go back I would :-(

Be a good friend and have no regrets

Dont tell him anything!!!!!!! I told my mate once and he got the job and not me!! Switch your phone off and when you get the job go and meet him wearing your Versace suit!!

Don't lie to him BG1... Be truthful as some have said the questions will probably be different on the test.. Your interview is what will get you the job as they already know how intelligent your are in your application form.. Be yourself,be confident and go for it... You'll be tickerdee boo..
