My first mobile ( Nokia 3210 ). Would play snake and text for 50p all day long
Thinking 2MB broadband was super fast, then 10MB was astronomically fast
    Unreal tournament graphics were amazing
    a 50" tv is humungous
    Wireless internet was jaw dropping
    Paging was the way forward
    Bebo was good

Anyone got any nostalgic memories to share

my first mobile-cant even remember the make, but had a huge aerial sticking out the top.

my first cd burner(cd only mind-no dvds) could burn at an incredible 4x! and blank discs cost 2 quid each! the burner cost me 350 pounds too.

thinking dvd quality was amazing when I first saw it,and then seeing my first bluray properly displayed and being blown away.

I remember when new consoles/games used to come out, especially back in the 80s/early 90s. There was only ever one person you knew who got them as gaming wasn't that popular back then.

Remember a guy a few years older than me getting the MegaCD on release here. I was so jealous as there was no way I'd get one, my parents rarely bought me games for my MD.

Forget 2mb broadband seeming fast, I remember when a friend got an isdn line installed at home when 56k dial up was the fastest anyone else could get.

I remember on my SNES I had to be careful playing an Ice Hockey game because it was an american game and I had to use a convertor to play, kept breaking me SNES tho lol

On topic for us two - the ability to copy games back then, so much simpler than today. Trading disks/cassettes to copy with friends. Everyone had a load of copied games back then, te percentage of piraters must have been far bigger than today. Nobody batted an eyelid over it then too.

I remember when I had to talk to friends in person, now I just use facebook and remain in my house all day and night.

A 50" TV isn't exactly small though, and not everyone has them...

I remember dialup and using Napster, waiting a painstaking 30mins-1 hour waiting on a single 3mb song to download Also Sonin on the original MD *sighs*

Remember when kids TV and toys used to be amazing as well?

I remeber the days when 500mhzs was a beast of a machine, then when 1Ghz came out people were like 'noooooooooo way!' lol

First mobile (back in 1997?) was a brick, had a little extendable ariel. still have it! sratch top up cards too! ahhh yeah paging days, didnt really last long once everyone started smsing

Loved the Megadrive days, was the game console to have!

I had mp3 player with a 32mb memory and expandable to 128mb storage - everyone laughed at me for having one, thinking it'll never take on - how wrong were they?!

I had the Japanese MD that could play all region games. I used to argue with SNES owners all day long about which was best, obviously the MD was!

lol, the paper insert with the counter numbers to show where each game load started, Hi-Speed Dubbing was king, lol but the computer games industry wasn't worth billions then IMO

Commodore 64 with the tape drive, Hit play and go and do something else for an hour, come back to see if it had crashed and you needed to repeat the whole process again. Was happy days when I opened the NES for "instant game loading"

Or copying games from tape recorder to tape recorder using sound and it being ruined by someone shouting in the background.

I remember also being able to cheat on games by changing the game code on the spectrum. Used to be able to somehow stop the game during loading and the code would come up on screen. In the football manager game for example you could then change the value of your starting purse and then resume loading.

I only changed from ISDN about 3-4 years ago coz our exchange is too rural, it had 2 lines at 56k speed, one for the telephone and one for the internet, but you could use both lines to achieve 128k, this process blocked the line for telephone calls, obviously i choose the run 2 lines! lol :-D

Yeah there were so many different variations. I remember writing out pages and pages of the codes by hand.

Also the time before game saves. When gaming was truly hardcore!!!

    Daley Thompson on the Spectrum
    Cool Spot on the Megadrive
    Mega CD and 32X
Having to stuff a piece of paper in to the top off a cassette so could record over

I remember showing my boss who was the PC guy in my office all the specs for my new PC I was buying 12 years ago and he said to definitely go for it because the 10GB HD memory was MASSIVE!

I had the 48k one with plastic keys. I remember a friend getting the 128k and taking my copy of Chase HQ round and having... OMG speech!!!!

    Wagwan.

Storage / HDD sizes. If someone told me 10 years ago I could have 16GB of storage space on a keyring, in my pocket, for less than £20 I would have laughed at them.

The CDi. A friend had one and we thought that it was the absolute pinnacle of gaming.

Playing Goldeneye on the N64 and thinking that multiplayer gaming will never get better. In fact, I sort of stand by this. I have never had as much fun in a multiplayer game as I used to on Goldeneye. All these Modern Warfares and the like are too serious and complicated now.

I remember I had mobles before anyone sent text messages. And then one day someone told me about these SMS things you could send and I should try to see if they worked on my phone. Sent one, got one back. It worked but I didn't see the point of it at all....!

I had a 48k with rubber keys, but we took to a shop to have a new casing with plastic keys placed over the top
