It's an amazing place with one of the best beaches in Turkey.
There are quite a lot of good all-inclusive deals in that area, not sure which is the best deal though.

Don't worry about the reviews too much, most of the hotels there are of good quality and you would find that you spend most of the time outside the hotel anyway
Have you bought your tickets already? as Easyjet have some very good prices.
Here's a picture of the Olu Deniz lagoon, it's very beautiful.

I can personally recommend Club Sun City in Oludeniz.Went here last year in september, all inclusive for 2 people for £420 per person. There is a free shuttle service to the hotels own private beach located on the corner of the blue lagoon. You can walk to the beach in that pic in about 10 mins from the hotel.

Went to Olu Deniz a couple of times in the 1980's before it became well known, it was a fabulous place then, a real gem. The lagoon area is very beautiful. I've not been since.

The one thing I would say is that the beach and lagoon are at the bottom of a very steep valley that descends to the sea, and a lot of the accomodation is located away from the beach up or at the top of the valley, so be very careful where you chose your hotel, the best locations are actually at the bottom, on the beach or lagoon, the whole area is called Olu Deniz, so a lot of holiday companies get away with giving accomodation that is a long way from the beach, they probably run a shuttle bus up and down, but it's never going to be as good as stepping onto the beach from your doorstep.

    :-D

only been once but going back soon. really nice place.
go and do the days out, but do it from the guys in the little shops on the main walkway and near the beach.
i think we went with thomas cook and they wanted triple the money for the trips out and had to pay for children.

the guys in the shops did us 3 full days out - jeep safari day, 12 island boat trip and market shopping trip.
all full days out with lunch included for £65 - 6 year old was free.
we did all inclusive as it wasnt much more expensive, but we ate out in the resturants every night as in wasnt that expensive and the food at the hotel was alright but mostly very similar everynight.

I would recommend looking for a hotel at the top of the pass between Olu Deniz and Fethiye, around the Hisaronu (Livlier) or Ovacik (quieter) area, which are about ten minutes dolmus ride from both seaside towns. O-D is great for the beach and Fethiye great for restaurants, and I found that the heat wasn't as oppressive at the higher altitude. If you google Ovacik or Hisaronu hotels you should get some good info.

    Just a suggestion.

Blue lagoon is a must dont go all inclusive its really cheap to eat and great fun trying all the different places
