On O2, is there any way...

Any way to prevent certain numbers from being able to leave you a voicemail? My problem is, I sometimes switch my phone off either when I'm at work or during the day when I'm using my phone for other thiings, or I leave my phone in one room and do other things elsewhere for several hours, and when I get back, I usually have a few voicemails from a couple of people who'd rather not have gotten my voicemail, since each failed attempt to contact me costs them 60p, or something like that. If I could prevent them from being able to leave me voicemail messages or even connect to my voicemail, it'd save them lots of money. Is there any way to selectively block numbers, or to disable your voicemail altogether?

Dial the following codes from your mobile to turn on and off o2 voicemail:
Turn on: 1750
Turn off: 1760

That wasn't his question though...

I know what you mean, my mum and dad used to moan like hell if they got my voicemail, now I turn it off but am plagued by 'missed calls' from witheld numbers and wondering if anyones called while it's been switched off.

Would like to know the answer to this query myself.

why worry about missed calls from witheld numbers?

if i get a witheld number, it's usually work, so if i miss it - big deal

i once heard someone say a phone ringing is an invitation for you to answer it - you choose whether or not to accept the invite!!

all too often we see a phone ringing as a case of "crikey - must stop every single thing i'm doing and answer this thing for it is clearly in control of my life - aaaaarrrgghh"

lol

apologies, I hadnt read that part.

When I 1st joined O2 (4Yrs ago) I had my set (pay as) with no voicemail but when I had my phone off or out of coverage I received a txt from O2 when I got back in coverage or turned it back on telling me the numbers (if available) of any calls I missed. Might be worth asking O2 about it.
