The corded mouse i currently use on my desktop is doing my head in as the wire gets caught all the time.

Is there anything specific i need to look for when buying an optical one, brand etc and how much is an average price ?

Also is a wireless mouse the same as an optical one,i've no idea?

Thank you for any pointers on this subject :o)

An optical one will still have the cable!
The differences are:

Optical Mouse:
Instead of the ball on the bottom that used to pickup dirt and fluff on older mice, an optical mouse has a bright light (usually red) that scans the surface you move it across to detect the movement. This usually gives a much more precise movement, but depends on the surface you are mving it on.

Wireless Mouse:
A mouse with no wire
Some wireless mice take batteries, others come with a 'dock' where you place the mouse to recharge when you aren't using it. All will have a receiver that you plug into the PC, and then the mouse is seperate.

Theoretically you can get wired mice, wireless mice, wired optical mice, and wireless optical mice, although in practice I think it would be very unlikely for you to find any mouse that was not 'optical' these days.

I believe there was a deal on here a few days ago for a keyboard and mouse set (wireless) from Tesco I believe...

EDIT Here it is:…ybo

This one looks like it will do the job, reviews seem ok and it has an on/off switch to save the batteries.
