Orange PAYG phone help please

My friend has an orange PAYG phone. Last night, he received 3 messages from his ex partner saying

Please keep this message
From: (ex partner's name)
IMEI:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Neither of us can figure out why he is getting these and what they mean. He also had one last Saturday. The IMEI numbers are the same.

He's asked his ex partner if the mobile number is hers and she denies it.

Does anyone know why he could be getting these messages?

Thank you for any help.

from googling it seems to be Samsung Mobile Tracker which sends a sms to a aleternative number when a new sim card is put into a phone as a anti theft device kinda thing ...

The Mobile tracking feature allows the customer to input a phone number … The Mobile tracking feature allows the customer to input a phone number so that if the phone is stolen and a new SIM is put in the phone, a text is sent to the specified number with the IMEI number of the phone and the phone number of the new SIM card.

He may have enabled the anti theft system, forgotten an then sold the phone. It would then start sending the texts to the logged number as soon as the new owner put his sim in. . .
