Orange San Francisco or iPhone

I've a 16GB iPhone 3G, was thinking of selling it and buying an Orange San Francisco with the proceeds and have some cash left over (maybe £80 -£90).

Is that a good move, or would I regret it? I use my iphone a lot for hotukdeals app, ebay app, tomtom app, but I guess there are equivalent apps for the san fran.

of course there are alternative apps on android. its all about what you need to be honest. if its just a couple apps and browsing the san fran is more than capable.

I though that might be the case. Is googlemaps as good as tomtom on the sanfrancisco?

Just found this other thread on hukdeals, it has answered my questions, looks like san fran is faster as well...

Well still hold on with the iphone.
how much would u be selling the iPhone for ?
I have used an ipod touch for the last year or so (and often used friends iphones at work, including 3G/3Gs/4G), and always wanted to purchase an iphone but not at current prices. I have now bought a San Francisco, which although I think is amazing for the price it is not at the same level as the iphone.

I'm sure you will notice a big difference between the two. The iphone is so much more responsive when using it, for general navigation and things like scrolling the screen during web browsing. Also, apps are better on iphone, more choice and better quality. No TomTom on Android, there is co pilot but have to say I much prefer TomTom. Also the camera isn't great, and battery life debatable. One area the San Fran does shine is the screen, high resolution and very sharp, text does look better.

Personally if I already had an iphone I would stick with it. But like I said, considering the cost difference the San Fran is a great phone for the price, and i'm more than happy with it as I can't justify iphone prices.

Also, to make the most of the San Fran you will need to 'root' the phone and upgrade to Android 2.2, so your warranty is gone from the start.

up to you at the end of the day though....

Have owned both (my san fran videos on youtube have more than 10,000 hits) and I say keep the iPhone. For someone buying a phone straight out if you have £80, the San Fran is awesome. However, whatever processor speeds or whatnot people throw at you, the iPhone feels better quality when being used and you'll miss it. San Fran is a step down.
