Ordering from AliExpress - Payment safe?

Saw something for sale and the cheapest is AliExpress. Now I've heard of this before and people buying and have ordered from sites like this i.e dx.com but they use PayPal.

Noticed AliExpress don't use PayPal but something called Escrow. Has everyone ordered from this before and always been safe with payment? I.e not seen any fraud payments later on come out being solely card based?

AliExpress uses its own payment gateway, it is their alternative to PayPal.

As far as AliExpress ( and its payment system) is concerned, they are above board.

It's what I've found out. What I want to know is, can I trust it fully? I.e has anyone ordered and received their item etc.

Sorry, I updated my original reply (a little late it would seem )

Yes, they are to be trusted. It is a legitimate company.

**Edit - just to add, just like any marketplace (e.g. eBay) you are not guarenteed that you won't be scammed.

Pay with credit card possibly ..and don't forgot to change currency befor you pay or else you will have non streling charge . And please read the feedback before purchasing since sometimes you will get nothing like you expecting . I always go after seller feedback rating . I hope it helps x
Oh and yes it's safe to make card payment . I use it often and never had problem but be cautious about seller .. Buy from seller who has positive feedback and read much feedback as possible .

just to throw my hat in the ring yes they are safe but make sure you are absolutely particular in the items description and be aware that if it is clothing the sizes are nearly always Asian sizes and not European so you need to go one size up at least in adult clothing but they normally advise this in their advert, you will normally wait about three weeks for an item also. If you are worried financially get a pre paid mastercard-visa and only load up the amount you want to spend,

I've bought about 5 or 6 things and never had any issues and all items have been received. Payments been taken correctly and no other suspicious activity on my card after ordering.

I've bought a couple bits from there and all been fine

The payment service they use, Alipay accounts for roughly half of all online payment transactions within China. Alibaba group itself is absolutely massive.

Have you tried emailing the seller directly & asked them if they will accept Paypal?
I have ordered numerous items off Ali express & have always paid via Paypal!!

I dont do much online shopping, and recently made my first ever purchase on aliexpress using a debit card. 2 days later an unauthorized transaction was made on my debit card. Luckily it was blocked by my bank. I dont have any evidence it has anything to do with the Aliexpress payment but seemed rather suspicious with the timing of it happening. In fact, it was the exact same day the real transaction was charged to my debit card. A quick search for something like: credit card scammed after shopping on Aliexpress brings up heaps of stories similar to mine. So be careful folks.
