Original Xbox - Xecuter Help

I picked up a few Xboxs last week at a car-boot. After opening them up to have a look I discovered that the Crystal one had an Xecuter 3 installed. I had to swap the optical drive because it wasn't reading discs. The Xecuter setup-thing works (holding down the white button), but other than that I can't get it to boot into anything other than the standard dashboard.

It has a few emulators and the eNigMah video switcher installed, so there must be some sort of 3rd party XBE installed - does any one know how I can boot from it?

I've also got a spare 80GB HDD, is it easy to upgrade the current HDD?

Thanks for any help.

First site I went to, didn't help that much, to be honest.

EDIT: Build is 1943, if that helps.

I used it to install all the Xecuter chips I installed and configured, dig deeper you will find what you need, the forums etc etc.

I'd say xbox-scene forums, but you've probably already been there.
When you say it won't load anything but the dash, is that also with original games in the tray?

I've only got original games. Pressing the power button (I think) boots into the standard XBE. Pressing the disc button shows the "Xecuter Rox my Box" intro. However, it doesn't boot into a 'custom' dash like EvoX, just the standard MS XBE.

There must be some way of booting the emulators and eNigMah video switcher, the only way I know of doing that is via another 'custom' XBE (like EvoX).

It plays games fine, and I can get into the X3 Config, but I'm not sure how to get into something like EvoX.

You need one of the all in one installers, like Slayer's (only a updated one- last time I looked Slayer's was no longer updated). I forget the name of the one I used to use. This will automate the installation of a XBE/do the backup of the current installatio, etc.
You should be able to burn this on a CD-RW, or a DVD-R and load it straight up as the firmware is already installed.

I found the one I used a few times: Auto Installer Deluxe.
It comes as a ISO you burn to disc - and has a menu for selecting wich dsh you want, etc.
I'd suggest a good read up before doing anything, but it is pretty straightfoward.

Any idea where I could acquire one of these All In One installers? Also, would this let me upgrade the HDD at the same time?

When I looked inside, all the banks were 'up' (number side), is this correct?

Yep thats how I upgraded my trusty Hard Drive - it formats and copies over all necessary files. If that's your plan - I would keep the original drive virgin and do all the messing about on the new drive.

Would I need to go into the X3 config and write down the key-strings (afaik, the HDD is locked to the Mobo)?

Or should I just swap them (the HDD's) over and insert the AID?

I really don't remember the procedure that well TBH - its been about 5 years since I last messed about with my xbox1.
I think you simply need a clean, lockable drive and the AID will do the rest - the key strings are simply used to lock/unlock the drive (so as long as you don't unlock the small drive and pull it out, you shouldn't have any need for the code).
But like I said I might be wrong as its been so long - so best write it down to be on safe side.

Looks like I leave it locked and simply switch the drives over - thanks

I'll try this when I get back.

You need to backup some files (HDlock code etc) otherwise the old drive is effectively a brick.
