    Overcharged on purchase

Hello, I am with Yorkshire bank and checked my statement today it says £30.99 was deducted when it should of been £10.99.
I don't see being credited for the difference this was three weeks ago, I was wondering how I should contact them as I don't have any proof that it should have only been £10.99. Do I need to contact the store directly?

    -Thank you.

I assume if you were to buy the same item today, it would also cost £10.99. I am also assuming you bought the item in a store and not on-line. So, you could return to the store with the item and a copy of your bank statement which hopefully will only show a deduction of £30.99 once and also show some indication that it was from the store you bought the item from.
Talk to the customer services in the store or the duty manager and ask if they explain what happened.
All this assumes the problem lies with the store and not the bank.
If you are happy with the stores explanation then your next call is to the bank and ask them for an explanation.

I would advise that if the mistake was their fault, after its all been sorted out, ring the Head Office of the store/bank (whoever made the mistake) and ask politely for a Gesture of Goodwill for the mistake and inconvenience of you having to chase them to tell them about it and query it. If there was no mistake then don't do this. If they did overcharge you, they might offer you apology money. If they do, politely decline and ask for a bit more, say its due to having to waste your time telling them they made a mistake.

I've done this loads of times when companies have messed up (usually problems with online orders) and I have literally got 100's of £££ from their cock-up/mistakes. My utility company just gave me £150 for messing something up which wasn't even their mistake in the first place, but they managed to handle it really badly hence the Goodwill Gesture.

Don't listen to this at all, if they offer you your money back and a little more as a goodwill gesture don't decline it other wise it may come back to bite you.

And don't listen to the "got £100's" absolute rubbish again.

Can some one PLEASE tell my wife to stop throwing away receipts, I got SERIOUSLY overcharged at Wilko a few weeks ago, but she threw the receipt away before we even got home.

Should have paid £17.99, got charged £70.99!!

Sounds like a single item purchase with the ninety-nine pence on the end?
So how come somebody walks to a till with an item worth one price and when asked to pay over 4 times its value ends up agreeing to that? As my old gran used to say - not worth letting out on their own!
PS - maybe there is a hidden Xmas present somewhere for you?

I walked up to the till with an armload of low value items, and a tired and grumpy 3 y/o; and yeah, it is partly my fault for not checking the amount before entering my pin number; I am usually very careful to check the display amount before paying.

Sure you didn't get cash back and maybe forgot doing so?
