    overwhelmed with energy suppliers !

Imwith the EDF currently on the fixedtill November 2016 freeze . Obviously that's now coming to an end and I need to find another rate. I've done a few comparison websites and they've come up with eon energy. Does anyone know of any good companies that are not on the comparison sites that I should look at many thanks

Then use that to compare again and most times i/you will find a better deal
Worked for the last 3 years for me and never ended up taking the MSE deal
    and
never compare with your current deal always find the best you can and use that

I'm with Sainsburys and they gave me the best deal last year

Eon are good, think they have a reward scheme too

Same here currently with Eon collective u switch deal till the end of October. Hope I find another good deal so will certainly keep an eye out on this thread.

I'm with eon ending next month, just looked at the MSE 2 year fix, it is a close run thing with other deals, but it seemed that the electric unit charge was quite expensive compared to other deals available, but the gas unit charge is cheap. Since I am a high gas user, it will probably be good for me.

so you go to a comparison site and use mse's collective switch prices/rates to compare?

It's not a easy as comparing the rates directly. You need to discover how you use energy and then select the cheapest based on that use. For example we use a lot of electricity so an high standing order and low rate is best for that. But we use a lot less gas so we want the lowest standing order charge there. We switched to a company for their low standing charge and a month later when they put their rate up 5% their standing charge when up 1000% so that shows how they fix the prices.

We currently use GB energy for Electric and Flow energy for gas.

you can use ANY good tariff you find and then compare
When you find (as you see it) the best tariff for you, then you go compare that and see if it is the best (if nothing cheaper comes up) you got the best tariff for you
Doing it that way for years and it works

    You are welcome
Just had a look and again they use: The calculation is based on 280 days on your current tariff and 85 days on your go-to standard tariff. When you use a tariff with a current date it is then based on the real cost (NOT 85 days on the most expensive tariff) or lots of deals will look cheaper than you think
Think its a con and shows ofgem are not in it for us but for the energy suppliers
Hope i have made it easy to understand and good luck

As the MSE switch ends on Monday I spent a few hours doing some proper Kw number comparisons on the various offer around. As a relatively high dual fuel user, the MSE British Gas offering worked out at about 70 cheaper than the next best, SSE Swalec V8 (beware V9 is more expensive and on offer on their website). Neither of the 2 year deals looked attractive. The renewal offer I had from EON (2yr fix) would have been about 300 a year more expensive.
So BG for me, but I do hope that the customer service has improved since I last used them in 10 yrs ago!!
