P5GD1-fm bios update?

Found 17th Oct 2008
Ive tried to install a new dual core cpu, the motherboard supports it but when i boot the pc up with it in it doesn't get a picture on my monitor

It turns on but doesnt beep or nothing.

I've applied enough thermal paste ect, i have no idea what the problem is.

I'm looking for an update for my motherboard, cant find one

If i find one hows it flashed?

Will that sort the cpu problem?

Thanks!

Would normally need a boot up to update a bios or if the bios chip can be removed then an eeprom programmer.
The mb you're using is for fujitsu and is made by asus, DO NOT UPDATE WITH A BIOS from Asus. follow this link and check the cpu you have is supported:
fujitsu-siemens.co.uk/rl/…pdf

Be kind leave feedback.

I thought a socket 775 motherboard would support a dual core cpu.

i'll need a new motherboard
Anyone confirm this?
Confirm that you need a new mobo? its likely since I had the same problem when I got my quad core cpu

Most can and that one probably supports pentium 4 dual core cpus.

However, it does only support 800Mhz FSB and most of the current Core 2 dual-cores are 1066Mhz or 1333Mhz.

Without knowing which CPU you bought it's hard to confirm that the motherboard doesn't support it.

assuming your machine is a fujitsu siemens just ring them and ask if the board supports the cpu that you have

Tel: 01344 475126 or 01344 475127 or 01344 475125 best of luck

It's just too old I guess, wikipedia lists the 915P as only supporting the Pentium 4 and Celeron, it doesn't even appear to have Pentium D support let alone Core 2.

You won't need a new graphics card, that motherboard has a PCI-E 16x slot just like a new motherboard would have so any graphics card you're using on that one will work fine on a new one.

The Intel P35 based motherboards are supposed to be pretty good and should be fairly cheap. You may need to stick to mATX ones though as the case may not fit full sized ones.
