PAC CODE

Hi All

Here'smy situation, hope someone can help.

I have a contract with Vodafoe until 20th July 2009. I wanted to continue with Vodafone but they offered me a pants upgrade and so have given notice to end my contract. What I would like to know is this please. If I purchase a new phoe on PAYG and get given a new mobile number, will I be able to at a later date port my number using a PAC code at any time or will I have to do this within a certain time frame?.

you can usually get a PAC code when you take out a new phone, dont know if you can do it on PAYG. give your new supplier a ring, they will certainly be happy to offer you advice.

you would have to use the PAC to port to another network, then get a PAC from them and port back, alternativly ask voda to change you to PAYG, wait a bit and change back to contract, you cant normally use a PAC to move from contract to PAYG on same network (i work @ orange and we cant do it either)

I've not bought a new phone yet, I'm thinking of buying the Nokia 5800 posted on Orange PAYG. The problem seems to be that if I ask for my PAC code from Vodafone more than 30 days before my contract expires then they will cancel it immediatley. Ideally I would like to buy PAYG phone now then in a months time ask for my PAC, however I'm not sure if my new network will accept the PAC code by then.

oh and PACs are only normally valid for 30 days, should be able to port it onto an existing account within the 1st 3 months ov being active !!!

Voda won't cancel your existing contract until you use your PAC.
It expires in 30 days.

Thanks, don't mind paying up my contract with Vodafone, only fair. just wanted to know that if I didn't ask for my PAC say until July that I could then in this example contact Orange and ask them to port my number over a month after I'd bought my new PAYG phone. Hope this makes sense.:)
