Probably not the best place to ask but I am planning on painting my guitar.

A few months back I sanded the paint colour off and now the guitar is just natural alder/ash.

How would I go about spray painting it - would I need primer etc?

My sons mate used spraypaint on his guitar, I'm sure he used a primer first. He uploaded his video to YouTube so mabye have a look there for some tips.

would i be able to achieve a finish similar to this :

I would think primer (so that the colour paint adheres to the guitar), paint & clear coat. You may need multiple layers of paint & clear coat depending on how you want the guitar to appear.

There are a load of results when you type "How to paint a guitar" into google.

Can you think of a better place to ask OP? combined we are very clever here...
