Helping out a relative. Her house whole house needs decorating. Over the past few weeks we have stripped and sanded 2 bedrooms, bathroom, hall, kitchen and lounge (small council house)

Now need to get paint and wallpaper. for whole house (we are hopefully going to get someone else to do this). Nearest place would be B&Q but just wanted to know if there are any other places that might have good deals. Not looking for very fancy stuff (maybe just for couple of feature walls).

Grateful for any suggestions please

Thanks guys. All good suggestions as usual

Have decided to get put laminate / wood floor in lounge and hall as well

Not sure if I will get to Homebase tomorrow.

Are B&Q comparatively expensive for this stuff. We should have done it all in the sales but all too ill to get there.

Try Homebase instore as they are changing lines, I managed to grab some paper for our lounge at £4 a roll instead of £30, so 11 rolls made a massive saving of £286 on the original £330 at £44.

As for paints the wickes trade lines are excellent value and quality.

It's difficult to tell as they all seem to be having sales or promotions all the time.

You could check there websites for a rough idea but place like Wilko's you would have to visit them to get prices on their sale items.

For laminate consider specialist flooring retailers such as Floors2Go as well they are often cheaper than the big DIY chains and you can go into there stores and haggle.

:w00t: I had no idea wallpaper could cost that much anyway.......I am in for a big shock. For her Xmas present, 4 of us said we would strip the house and pay for all the paint and wallpaper. She is delighted............now I know why!

I beleive B&Q are having another sale next week Thur, Fri, Sat and sunday i think its another going going gone thing, also they are coming up to an anniversary should be something happening around that, if i was you hold of till nxt weekend

have you got what was glyn webb...now called 'all styles, all pockets' stupid cheap for paper..ie 25p up...i got 50p paper was £7 in bq...it may be seconds but i have never found much wrong!
if you get cheap paper its cheaper than painting...

laminate-give floors2go a miss...if you want cheaper try IKEA casualty section as they sell it £5 a pack-and its DURABLE not like floors2go carp (i have them both-IKEA takes a hammering-floors2go overpriced as we thought quality and drop a pencil it gets a hole!!!) apologies barneydog...

good luck its a nice thing you do...
