Painting tiles on wall - ??

I need to brighten up a house for sale and the tiles are blue which is no longer in fashion. Was thinking just to repaint them but as I have never painted tiles before was just wondering if anyone had tried it. Only option is to retile but obviously this is much more expensive and not got money to do it. Need options for kitchen and bathroom. Any advise please?

Yes I know I will need to buy the tile paint, apart from cleaning any other prep work, will it last or does steam affect it?

Kitchen or bathroom? Painting tiles looks bad. Better to cover buy tiling over the top or a faster way to cover if it's a bathroom using Marbrex plastic panels. If you do paint then you need to really clean tiles so paint sticks. I used a steam cleaner and sugar soap when I painted tiles. Looked terrible though

I've used tile paint before, just ensure that the tiles are clean of any grease or grime. Used white and painted all over including the grouting. Might need two coats depending on the blue but would recommend as a good alternative to retiling. Just take your time doing it to get a good finish and no runs. Will last a few years before needing repainting and is not affected by steam or cooking fat splashes.

no don't do it. I moved in to a place and the paint started chipping away after a few months of cleaning, looks awful.

Cant use cladding etc as the border tiles are 3D effect ad stick out so any cladding would be lumpy all over. Its either paint or replace and not living there so dont want the "replace" expense. The new owners may rip it all out anyway. Need to do kitchen and bathroom.

The expense of replacing far exceeds the potential drop in value from painting. Do not paint, always looks awful. Tile paint isn't cheap either.
